We are deeply saddened to share that Barbara Miles, a beloved colleague and pioneer in the field of deafblindness, has passed away. Barbara touched many people deeply and will be sadly missed. Her legacy, however, will remain with us and will continue to inspire our field.
A woman is sitting, looking very alert and warm as she gazes into the camera. She has blue-green eyes and light brown hair that is just past shoulder length. She is wearing a blue-green jumper, a matching gilet, a light green drop earring and a silver necklace with a rectangular watch pendant featuring a black watch face.

The Global Education Campaign builds bridges – just as DbI does in general. And so it can happen, as it has this evening, that three people from Iran, the USA and Switzerland come together to find a way to support twins with deafblindness and their family in Pakistan. #EducationForAll #DBI
An old arched stone bridge spans a narrow river gorge in a lush, forested, steep mountainous landscape. To the right of the bridge stand two houses, the one in the foreground with a stone roof. The river is visible at the very bottom centre of the picture, whilst the evening sun is visible in the upper fifth of the frame.

Today, on 8 August, we celebrate CHARGE Syndrome Awareness Day! We are spelling the letters of CHARGE around the world to raise awareness of CHARGE syndrome. Please join us on this special day! #chargeconnect #chargesyndromeawarenessday #chargesyndromeworldwide #chargestrongertogether #dbi
At the top, the headline reads: “One World. Six Continents. Together we CHARGE!” A colorful world map highlights six inhabited continents, each represented by a large letter spelling CHARGE: C for North America (purple), H for Europe (pink), A for Asia (blue), R for South America (teal), G for Africa (yellow), and E for Australia & Oceania (orange). Cartoon children wearing hoodies with the DbI logo stand on or beside each continent, waving and smiling. Dotted lines connect the continents, symbolizing global collaboration. A small penguin wearing a purple scarf stands on Antarctica at the bottom. The footer displays the Deafblind International CHARGE Network logo and the words: “Connecting,” “Empowering,” and “Influencing,” each paired with a corresponding icon.
