My 2003 Ford Escape got me home safely one final time. After 23 years and 142k miles, the transmission has had it and it's not financially sensible to fix. Anyone who's known me since I moved to WA, while I lived in CA and all 4 of my dogs have only ever known me with this great, reliable vehicle

By far the worst thing about Viking River Cruises is the relentless and incredibly wasteful marketing slop and they won't stop. It's essentially a function that wastes energy and trees into landfill

Taking Freddie for a swim in the river every morning around sunrise
Border Collie swimming back to the river beach with a yellow bumper in his mouth. A verdant river bank is behind him and the river reflects this bank. The only disturbance in the water is from the dog's motion.

Freddie's 6am swim
Border Collie swimming in the Snoqualmie wearing a blue harness and carrying a yellow bumper in his mouth. The water is calm only rippled by the dog. The far bank is covered in brambles and trees

Epiphany of the day: cross-hatching avocado halves before spooning the diced pieces onto the plate! It's the small things

A friend bought me some Sound Seafood (soundseafood.co.uk) mackerel and sardines from The Tinned Fish Market (www.thetinnedfishmarket.com) stall in London's Borough Market. I ate the mackerel yesterday with a squeeze of lemon and some dill and it was *delicious*
Canned mackerel in its oil with a squeeze of lemon and some chopped dill garnished with a slice of lemon.

Until Bluesky|atproto apps expect reasonable granular permissions, I'm reluctantly denying access to several interesting apps. I'll prefer less functional apps with appropriate permissions

Me: Lean (1% fat) ground turkey, onion, garlic, grated carrots and parsnips in a passatta (strained tomatoes) sauce. Served on quinoa and chopped arugula (all I had) to balance the colors. Freddie: Ground turkey, grated carrot and kibble.

Beautiful Bald Eagle on a gorgeous blue-skied morning. When I walked previously, the eagle was being monitored closely by a group of local crows

The permissions requested by blento are powerful. Is this the norm with atproto app?

Lucky (his original name) and I spent several very happy years and had many adventures together. He was a very good boy.

My dog wants to wade into the floodwater south of Duvall but he's not allowed
A Border Collie dog on a blue leash pants as he waits for the photo to be taken. The trail disappears beneath the flood water and can be glimpsed rising again in the distance. The trail is bordered by large trees but the view is mostly flood water.

Hear me out... Roast chicken and roast summer corn heated with a grocery store curry sauce (panang). Optional extra: thai basil from a friend's yard.
Taken from above: a glass of red wine next to a bowl of chicken curry with a fork laying on the bowl on a wooden table.
