Saying he'd be cool with Iran nuking my home city is pretty bad but not quite as bad as when Hillary said some trump supporters were deplorable so I can see why the media turned the latter into a major scandal and not the former

Again, you can always detect some faint embarrassment from Democrats when they talk about the ballroom, but “the president demolished a big part of the White House to build himself a palace with bribes from enemy powers” is, by an order of magnitude, the worst corruption scandal in US history

A Wealthy Russian Businessman Is Helping Fund Trump’s Stupid Ballroom. Nothing Sketchy About That, Right?
Surely, our president will face consequences for this insanity.

There's a way yesterday's failed attempt to frame up Jack Smith for perjury could've been covered as part of the same story — the deadly serious abuse of the DOJ by Republicans to ruin the lives of who they perceive as political opponents — but instead it was like "EMBARRASSING WHOOPSIE"

what the Trump kids are doing is like 1000x worse than anything Hunter was alleged to have done. But there was a "BIDEN SCANDAL" shaped hole in the news and Hunter filled it and there's no such hole available for Trump that's not already being filled by 15 other things bsky.app/profile/dani...

Developments in the Hunter story were, after 2021, generally covered with the exact same scandalous tone and cadence as reporting on like, Watergate (because they didn't like Biden and wanted scandals to hurt him)

Not only will we spend decades paying more to oil companies for transportation that we would otherwise, the air we breathe will be befouled and we will continue to increase the planet's temperature, contributing to global disaster. But Trump's buddies will make a fortune. They're laughing at us

Why do you hear so much repetition in the media about Trump's promise to give voters $5000 in a way you didn't for say, Kamala Harris's plan to give people who start a business $50,000? Is it because Trump has more credibility because he's told the truth in the past? What could be the other reason?

Donald Trump is destroying the national capital to build Trump monuments. I wish liberal leaders would stop acting like it’s embarrassing to care. It’s an abomination, just like the war, the corruption, the racism.

Has the Times still not run an article on the coup Rodneyse Bichotte illegally pulled to seize control of the Brooklyn Democratic Party? But they're writing a huge article about how Mamdani (like every other politician in the country) has comms staffers like it's a scandal? It's interesting!

Elon Musk was the top Republican donor in 2024 and will be again in 2026 and is a gutter racist. Will Republican candidates who are being directly funded by him get grilled on his views the same way Democrats have been getting grilled about Twitch Streamer Hasan Piker?

Telling your audience that Elon Musk is not a Republican and not interested in politics before he becomes *literally the top donor in history to the Republican Party* idk its like writing and article that's like "LeBron James hates basketball and will never play it" in 2003 and then again in 2005

Maybe some of those "why are you campaigning with an antisemite?" questions could go to Republicans backed by a Sieg Heiling white nationalist. The silence is especially deafening because Musk's involvement helped Republicans lose in WI in 2025, so the press even has its preferred horserace frame.

The second part of the UGent suspension letter to Nathan Cofnas. Clearly he is a problem at the university and causing discord and damage to the institution. A guest speaker even cancelled because of Cofnas’s association with UGent. He was not suspended for whistleblowing. That is a Cofnas lie.

Think about it: every visit from a foreign leader, every press conference, every news shot is going to take place underneath a massive structure that is the literal manifestation of Trump’s corruption seizing the American government. The symbolism is too wretched to endure; it has to come down.

It's just fascinating which stories of alleged academic misconduct merit dozens of stories and which kinda vanish into nothingness, I'm sure the main criterion is an objective evaluation of the story's news value to our education system and not something else.

Lie. Biden definitely wasn't "maxxing out" on "illegal immigration." Immigration activists denounced his policy as too draconian, and Dems tried to pass a hawkish immigration bill. Similar point re: Starmer. NYT thinks the op-ed page is for publishing lies, at least if the lies are right-wing. 6/x
After 2020 we tried putting this establishment back in charge, but the Biden era just gave us a more left-wing version of meritocratic hubris, replacing experts with interest groups, maxxing out on social liberalism and illegal immigration and then unraveling completely in the end. Something similar could be said about the Keir Starmer experiment in Britain. There is no evidence that the old elite has a blueprint suited to contemporary governance, no reason to expect that it won’t just cycle through the same mistakes and backlash.

NYT wanted to write a story about "moderate Dems go to war with DSA," looked around, and the best they could find was a *proposal* by Third Way to spend $15M against left candidates. The story is not evidence that *Democrats* and the left hate each other... it's evidence that the NYT hates both.

Trump fails like this constantly, going back to his first administration and even first campaign. The thing that happens over and over again is that he gets bailed out by the actually-competent parts of the conservative movement: his allies in the media and allies in the judiciary.
