Tariffs could be a good tool to discourage imports - if you have the industry and infrastructure set up to be competitive. Usually, they cause financial woes - as experienced in something called the Great Depression - when exercised w/out caution or support. So, maybe DON'T rip up the CHIPS Act?!?

None of this was necessary. Border crossings, illegal immigrants, and drugs all were on a downward trend under Biden. At best, Trump gets to take credit for it all; at worst, it pisses off our allies, and we get into an unnecessary trade war..that has nothing to do with drugs or criminals.

We have to call them "protections" instead of "regulations." MAGA spins it as "cutting red tape" and getting rid of "regulations." But, what they are threatening to do, and are doing, is removing safeguards and protections for employees, minorities, and the environment. Make them use the words.

The last time a President enacted extreme tariffs, the US went into the Great Depression. Know what helped the US get out of it? The New Deal and a number of social safety net programs. My key takeaways about TikTok are that Trump initiated the ban during his first term, Biden chose not to enforce it, no real risks have been identified, there was no real reason to shut it down on the 18th/19th, and now Trump is trying to rewrite history and be the hero.
