Build your way out of a task when: - it recurs - you're pasting between apps that should just talk to each other - you're paying for SaaS that does 10% of what you need Pick one with clear ROI. Build that first (this week).

Wearing a mechanical wrist watch after a few year's pause. Still a bit connected, but not too much 😊 Liking it! Might start collecting watches in the end 😁

The story of how we create with AI is still unfolding. First, it made our old workflows faster. But now the good part: fundamentally rethinking what our workflows should be.

I've been vibe-coding for the past few days and haven't had so much fun and learned so much in a long time! Then I tried "vibe-designing" with aura.build and onlook.com - ended up being utterly disappointed. Those free credits will take you nowhere, fast. Fellow designers, this is our time!

Had a lovely hike yesterday. Discovered a wonderful park pretty near our home. Will surely go there again!
A winding dirt path through a mixed Nordic forest with tall birch and pine trees, moss-covered boulders, and dappled sunlight filtering through the canopy. A perfectly still lake creating mirror-like reflections of dramatic clouds and surrounding forest, with the sky and trees doubled in the calm water surfaceAquatic grasses and reeds with golden seed heads growing along a pond's edge, creating natural textures above the dark water surfaceA weathered wooden bench sits in a wildflower meadow filled with bright yellow blooms, surrounded by green forest in the background.

Many people think that building a great AI tool capable of creating for the web is just about wrapping OpenAI or Anthropic APIs. Honestly, we thought so too. But the reality couldn't be further from the truth. You need so much more than that. The number of things it has to reason about and build is

Building and publishing with @webstudio.is works just as fast and smoothly at 11 km / 38000 ft altitude, on a slow and shared 12 Mbps link as it does from home (100 Mbps all to myself).

All other issues aside, there's going to be major "prompt engineering" burnout for some if not all usecases. Having to create precise verbal instructions is way more taxing & ultimately less rewarding than browsing stock, or sketching, or talking ideas w/ a human artist, or just writing the copy.

Caffeine withdrawal symptoms are no joke! After years of consuming copious amounts of coffee every day, I decided to stop, cold turkey. In retrospect, I should have tapered it down over a few weeks period to avoid the headache and even worse, muscle aches.

Product design (physical) rant → Google Chromecast was designed to be plugged into a HDMI port of a TV device — hence end up hanging *behind* the TV itself — and at the same time only offer Wi-Fi connectivity. Otherwise a pretty decent device. Once you buy an HDMI extension cable 😄

It's just sad 😔 Influencers selling their advice on "how to get ahead of 95% of people." Even when their advice is fundamentally sound, they frame it as a competition. They ask people to measure their success by comparing themselves with others. And that is the shortest path to feeling miserable.

Work life goals, in no particular order: - never have to apply for a job again, - never have to commute to work again, - never have to report hours again, - no meetings that could have been an email/recording, - never work for a salary again, - never work on something I don't believe in again.

"Just half a pound of the stuff may remove as much carbon dioxide as a tree can". What the f**k does that even mean? A mature tree removes ~25 kg of CO₂/year. This "new powder" is a sorbent with a capacity of 0.96 mmol/g, so that's 0.0096 kg of CO₂ per 0.5 lbs. You'd need 1305 lbs to equal a tree.

This is how you do a toast/snackbar notification design - you make it high-contrast to the rest of the UI. Kudos to Tidal! Looking at you, @figma.com - why you made it black and tiny? #uxdesign

To the right are figurines of stormtroopers from the Star Wars franchise. In the middle is a phone displaying the Bluesky settings screen. A circular enlargement of the top of the phone shows an arrow pointing to a specific setting: "Require alt text before posting”. In the top left a sentence of text reads: “The coolest thing in this picture is the accessibility setting in Bluesky”.
