A very special doll of the day: I have managed to track an original 1972 Kenner Blythe in great condition. 😍 This little lady is looking absolutely fabulous at 54!! I paid a very fair price for her, which basically means I blew my fun money for the rest of the year. #worthit #blythe #dollcollector

This is the most 80s thing I've ever seen omg. 😂 Packed theatre, lots of figures and matrices of leadership in attendance, the youngest person there was probably 40. So much fun!!!

Dyson Airsmooth - not worth the $$. The bristles don't provide enough tension to stretch and smooth wavy/curly hair and I was left with a lot of frizz right at my scalp - it's basically the equivalent of using the Airwrap paddle (which is not great as a styling and smoothing tool). Already returned.

Also I can't really think of when you'd need to pay for an ultrasound in Canada - maybe if you wanted extra scans of a developing fetus? When I've needed an ultrasound (not related to babies LOL!!) there haven't been any out-of-pocket expenses. Except maybe for parking if I'm at a hospital.

Not all health-related expenses are covered by medicare (e.g., dentist, optometrist, psyc. etc). Some jobs will have extended health coverage for these (and meds!). If you're partnered and you both have decent benefits, you will probably pay very little out of pocket for health-related concerns.

It depends on total income, for Canada. My average tax rate is just over 36%, and my marginal tax rate is about 44%. This doesn't include things like employment insurance, cpp, disability insurance, or union dues. (cont'd)

This is spectacular, folks. We live in a moment in American history when the president and his administration are so racist and dumb that a toy company has to put out a statement saying: "OUR GIANT ROBOT THAT TURNS INTO A TRUCK DENOUNCES RACISM AND HAS NO CONNECTION TO THE CURRENT PRESIDENT."

Back on campus tomorrow, after a glorious half-year sabbatical and then an extended summer vacation. Would maybe be a little easier on the soul if I wasn't teaching at 8:30 in the morning 3 days a week. :/

If you're wondering why authors are getting so rabid here: First Anthropic stole our books. Then we got denied compensation because of US unjust copyright law and publishers failing to meet their contractual obligations. Then publishers and agents apparently claimed author shares. Now this.

I have seen it before!! But that was maybe 35 years ago, LOL, and probably wasn't really paying attention. 😂 I think it'll be a fun experience in a full theatre (this is a city full of nerds). I mean, in what other movie will you find both Orson Welles and Weird Al? 🤣

Coyote vs Acme is everything you would want from a Looney Tunes movie - plenty goofy, tons of shenanigans, but also some very valid social commentary and the perfect amount of heart. Highly enjoyable, super glad we were able to see it in the theatre!

I don't disagree! This is what you get when a banker is the best option to run your country. Lovely words of support that go out the window when we 'need' to ram a pipeline through unceded territory. :/
