The morning #HurricaneHelene hit Asheville members of our co-op sat in the dark, listening to the howling wind and crack of trees falling. When we emerged to take stock a cardboard sign on our door read “Community meeting here, Saturday at 2. Let’s talk about how we can take care of each other.” 1/?

A photo of a cardboard sign taped to the closed door of Firestorm Books. It reads "Community meeting here Saturday @ 2. Bring friends, info, and food. Let's talk about how we can take care of each other and our community."

Fun fact: this means the sun will finally set on the British Empire. Once handed to Mauritius there will be a point in the day in which all remaining British colonial possessions (and Britain itself) will be in darkness. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

You may have heard of vantablack, the blackest substance invented. Well, Trader Joe’s is now selling the whitest substance ever invented

openbenches.org indicates that the UK has about 10x as many memorial benches as the rest of the planet. Late symptom of colonialism or #bias of the #dataset? 😉

Still love Stross's great idea for near-light-speed travel: send lifebox models of people in tiny nanocomputers pushed by light sail. New take: have the people be "gummies". Soft red glowing shrunk versions of selves. Add smeel, or water, to reocnstitute! technovelgy.com/ct/content.a...

Yooooooooooo Go into "settings," "thread preferences," and select "threaded mode". MUCH nicer

The settings menu with "Thread Preferences" listed directly below "Home Feed Preferences"

The "Thread Preferences" page. The toggle to turn "Thread mode" on is at the very bottom.

Lisp is worth learning for the profound enlightenment experience you will have when you finally get it; that experience will make you a better programmer for the rest of your days, even if you never actually use Lisp itself a lot. -- Eric Raymond
