Spokesperson's statement has a whiff of AI about it too: “We’re not going to run from it, it was an unfortunate error, though it’s...” [continues ad nauseam]

Unfortunately "the idea of wearing a bicycle helmet", which is harmful in the long run thanks to its effect of discouraging cycling, is not the same thing as actually wearing a helmet yourself, which one can do without going online to tell other people about it.

What's the Paris Trombone? I have spoken to some of the biggest bike experts in the world. Asked them. And like 98.3% have never heard of it. We made this fun quick short in the midst of making another film 3 years ago in Paris.

Asking not to pay a tax that you would otherwise have to pay, to use the infrastructure of a city where you pay no council tax, is absolutely demanding a subsidy and it is baffling to present it otherwise

And it is less efficient, by definition. (If it weren't, nobody would need an organic sticker.) Is it surprising to some people that using more land for the same/lower yield is, generally speaking, not better for the environment?

In the video the cyclist rotates the bike 90°C on the spot to face the right direction. Not how bikes work. Nobody likes making sharp turns, especially if you have multiple cyclists trying to turn at once, or if you are towing a trailer.

I am in Germany and have a Cube Kathmandu Hybrid and it goes up to 25km/h, which is the limit here, the same as the rest of Europe (incl. UK) and Australia. Afaik only US, Canada, NZ + Brazil are 32km/h. There is a class 45km/h S-Pedelec in Germany but requires licence & registration like a moped

I really don't understand what the value is here of the AI version. The real one is much more interesting (+ more accurate, more cheeses). I clicked through to the blog post to find out more but came away not really understanding the learning objective. (Fyi this is the first/only post I have seen)

German junctions are even worse for this though, because the traffic lights are before the junction, not after, so the cyclists cannot actually see the light turn green and have to figure it out from the pedestrian signals or the queue of cars building up behind them
000
David Selby @davidselby.bsky.social · 24/07/2026
We have lots of these junctions in Germany but I have never met anyone who likes them. In practice it is easier to join the traffic and turn with the cars, or pick a different route and approach the junction from a different arm.

I thought the articles seemed waffly but attributed it to being very American-centric, so I haven't heard of most of the brands and am not used to the narrative writing style. But the author says he is from the UK originally. Name "Keyana Sapp" but alt text on profile pic is Oliver Buchannon...?

It seems fairly obvious that everyone here is referring to legal 25km/h ebikes. The bikes you mention are already treated as motorcycles, already require licensing and registration and already aren't allowed in bike lanes, at least in every country I have visited. So why bring it up?

This is a really cynical turn of phrase too: "...the road would be 'manic' if cars were not parked on the pavement, as it is used regularly by ambulances and buses." Phrasing it any other way risks admitting that the number of cars parking on the street might be reduced and that it isn't a right

Unfortunately not everywhere on the mainland. In car-centric Saarland, the only hope of public transport on the weekend is a "Rufbus", which does not run unless you telephone the company at least one hour prior to departure, via a phone line that itself is closed on weekends. But that is an extreme

Similarly, being able to bunny hop a bike up a kerb is a useful skill, but all kerbs at crossings and entrances should be dropped and flush so this is never normally necessary.

'White beans in tomato sauce' = baked beans. In German they are called literally this: weiße Bohnen in Tomatensoße. There are so many different names for this: navy beans, Boston beans and in the UK haricot beans, even though 'haricot' is just French for bean, so it's like saying beans beans...
