The trouble, you see, is that the U.S. now has two pro-tariff parties.

My son needed to get from downtown to Orléans on Sunday. At the start of his trip, a bus blew past him and there wasn't one for almost half an hour after that. A second bus for the final leg of the trip didn't come on schedule at all. He arrived an hour late.

Aha: what he's got there is two sticks! So he's wrong that "a stick like this" would cost about a dollar. But Ingraham's wrong that that would cost at least $4, unless it's fancy stuff.

Maybe the ideas there are unrelated: 1) There are five deaths right away. 2) It’s yet another movie with such poor lighting work that you can’t frigging see anything. Worse than ever!

You can’t assume the readers will have read previous memos. I mean mainly the public—the city execs know the public will see these—but even some councillors.

I know you know this, but: Only some of it is a boycott in protest of U.S. policies. Some of it is just fear of what U.S. authorities have done to any number of non-citizens. Why risk it?

"While some people may view this as unfortunate" is an odd phrase to put in here. Like he felt he needed a euphemism for "bad" because he lost track of what point he was trying to make with the sentence.

It was AFTER Confederation, took 10 years of stop-and-start planning first, and the 1881-1885 construction phase went HALFWAY across Canada—just Ontario to B.C.—without labour standards or consideration of Indigenous people. This mythologizing of the CPR is in itself a mark of unseriousness.
