Alien 3 was one of the many sets I snuck onto whilst growing up near Pinewood. It obviously has its problems but if it didn't have the baggage of the Alien franchise I think it would be a much better regarded movie. I like it. bsky.app/profile/admitonedail...

I'm currently posting my old cinema tickets on my alt account, and it's a bit sad to be reminded just how many comedy films used to get released in cinemas. Back in the 80s and 90s they weren't rare events, they were just part of the mix. It feels like they hardly make films like that anymore.

A small white cinema ticket with a blue header strip showing column labels. The text reads “WEST-END 7 DAVE.” Below, it shows Row G, Seat 19. The screening is listed as Saturday 6 November 1993 at 6:40pm, priced at £7.00. “Customer Copy” is printed in the lower right. The ticket is centred on a dark textured background with the date faintly visible below.A poster showing a man standing on a gravel path facing the White House, seen from behind. He holds a brown bag in one hand and has a red garment draped over his shoulder. The White House fills the background under a blue sky, framed by open black gates on either side. WHEN THEY GAVE HIM A CHANCE TO MAKE THE COUNTRY BETTER…HE DID.” The title “DAVE” appears at the bottom.

I think that maybe overestimates people’s innate desire to be passively entertained. It could be a novelty for a while, but could quickly become a chore. Although future generations could see that differently I suppose.

In 1988, I suspect I went to see this more for Matthew Broderick than for Neil Simon. What I remember most, though, is coming away struck by just how good Christopher Walken was. #admitonedaily #biloxiblues #MatthewBroderick #1980smovie #ticketstub callsheetapp.com/movie/19382
A slightly battered UK cinema ticket from 1988 for Biloxi Blues. The paper is faded and creased, with the film title clearly printed, a very typical example of late-1980s cinema ticket stock.
Poster for Biloxi Blues (1988). Matthew Broderick stands in U.S. Army uniform among a group of young recruits during World War II. The image suggests a mix of comedy and coming-of-age awkwardness set against the strict routines of military training.
