Paris collective 10LEC6 return with a record named after a Cameroonian mountain that traps walkers in a dance they cannot quit. The reason they chose that story is more pointed than the sleeve lets on. Ako Akas by 10LEC6 is our album of the week buff.ly/SoGQbJk

Seen a depressing amount of people saying they make AI music because then they don't have to be embarrassed about releasing something they've made themselves that's "shit". My instinctive response is "if you want to write good songs you need to be willing to write shit ones" BUT...

An underrated feature of 'Weekend à Rome' is the way the chorus screams '80s daytime magazine show theme'.

A great 'what you might have heard on the radio if you were on a French exchange in the 80s' playlist. So the Belgians in berets are acceptable I suppose.

As others pointed out, Farage lost multiple times before having a single victory. And every loss was accompanied with a media discourse playing up his influence. They kept that up until he actually won.

Sharing this again as it's quite a big deal for me. The audiovisual essay includes me listening to Tomorrow Never Knows with Don, and features recordings by Lana Del Rey, Pet Shop Boys and Bryan Ferry - in fact I synced a scene from Mad Men to his cover of 'Smoke Gets In Your Eyes'.

Oh yeah I could have gone with that too tbh - both great, subversive pop songs. And it's less of a 'banger' but Jardin de Vienne is a beauty, approaching Dead Can Dance territory.

The idea the Greens were plausibly ever going to be invited to participate in the next govt by the Labour Party *under any circumstances* is levels of motivated reasoning & self-bullshitting we need to build a new scale to quantify

George Monbiot @georgemonbiot.bsky.social

Let me trv this once more. It was a choice EITHER the Greens adopted a slogan. OR thev could have ioined the next qovt, where they could push for an end to arms sales, sanctions, support for the arrest warrants etc. It was never going to be both. Which one makes a material difference? #GazaGenocide

None of the claims made here are true, but that's beside the point. What matters is the suggestion that certain people should not be subject to purity tests, while others should. For example, raise Palestine and you will be asked if you think Israel has the right to exist.

We can debate whether it is possible in theory to be in favour of a colonial project in the Middle East without being incredibly racist about it, but we would have to debate this as a theoretical concept because the actually existing one is not only openly and proudly racist, but murderously so.
