You said it perfectly. The whole exercise today felt pointless.

Hey @fishonfirst.com, the Columbus Clippers have our old friend Kahlil Watson in the lineup tonight vs the Jumbo Shrimp.

I think the dissonance has to do with subgenre. While both sci-fi, Rogue One is more militaristic, espionage thriller, while A New Hope sits squarely in mythic, Hero’s Journey territory.

So he walked the first two batters then struck out the next three. He relied mostly on his 4 seamer, but mixed in the slider and curve. Looked good once he settled in.

First four pitches from Eury Perez, 96-97-97-96. All balls, sure, but it’s great to see him out there. #Marlins

The amount of former Marlins on Atlanta’s Gwinnett Stripers Triple-A affiliate is alarming.

I’m getting to my 1st Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp game of the season tonight, looking forward to seeing Max Acosta, who’s been great so far slashing .385/.448/.538, with 4 multi-hit games. Hoping to see a Troy Johnston breakout, too! #JaxShrimp #Marlins

I didn’t get a job I was really hoping to land. It would’ve meant a huge and positive career change, something other than teaching. In a cruel twist of fate, immediately after hearing the news that I didn’t get the job, I had to teach Macbeth’s “Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow” speech. Oof.

Despite sporting the greatness of Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford, much of the wind in the sails of 1923 has been lost thanks to the rudderless ending of Yellowstone.

I just finished John Gwynne’s Faithful and the Fallen series and dammit if it’s not the best epic fantasy series I’ve read in ages.

Yeah, still dealing with the cough nearly two weeks out. Feeling better otherwise, but still drained of energy (though being in my 40s probably has something to do with that). We’ll see. Feel better brother!

I had a similar experience reading it, then loved watching the movie as a kid. I also loved teaching it to middle schoolers years later. The first book that really did that for me was “The Westing Game” by Ellen Raskin.

I doubt they will, but I hope the Dolphins clean house this offseason. This franchise needs (yet another) reset.

Taking a break from the Heat, I usually ask for donations to my mom’s charity, the Good Shepherd Foundation, once a year. They run a free clinic in Haiti and are really doing great things. The money goes to medication, lab equipment and more. www.thegoodshepherdfoundation.org

You’re right, of course. I’m just frustrated as someone who’s been a fan since the first pitch of the franchise. I was drawn by your description of the reaction of others as apoplectic (great word). I’m more resigned, and I’m legitimately worried about the long term outlook of the team in Miami.
