I’m just a lawyer who knows that words have meaning, so tries to use them accurately. The mis-use of “genocide” with Gaza is no accident of course, because it inaccurately accuses Israel of the very kind of crime that killed 6 million Jews. It is a deliberate anti-Semitic slur.

It’s a photo of victims at Dachau. You apparently need to see it to know what a genocide actually is. Events in Gaza meet no definition of the word “genocide.” If you called Gaza “a ham sandwich” or “basketball practice” you would be just as accurate.

The word "genocide" was coined to describe the extermination of 40% of the world's Jews (6 million) in the early 1940s. Today, some call 50,000 civilian deaths in the Gaza war "genocide." Why? Because it so offensive to Jews. Calling Gaza "a genocide" is anti-Semitic. That's the point of the word.

Trump's tariffs targeted Canadian sovereignty: he sought to control Canada's ability to make agreements with other countries, and to interfere with internal policies. U.S. states would balk at such restraints. It was not a good, or a good faith, proposal.
