I moved to Japan just as the @evolutionofhorror pod started. I was so excited to hear someone exploring horror movies that I messaged to say as much. Given my name I wasn’t surprised to get a mention, but it was still awesome. I still listen and the new book FINALLY arrived! #horrormovie

The purchase of an original PlayStation with a bunch of games, specifically Metal Gear Solid, has been one of my best decisions. There’s a lot to be said for playing older games on the original hardware #metalgear #playstation

Found some stone-cold classics to add to my collection. Given that there’s a new Ace Combat out soon, it seems fitting to go back to where it all began #acecombatwingsoftheve @bandainamcoeu

Who would have thought a GameBoy Color game would be such a treat. Metal Gear: Ghost Babel is a great addition to the Metal Gear Solid package

This is the bleakest Edge cover I think I’ve ever seen and I’ve been reading since the 90s. The games industry crash is in full swing and honestly, where do you even start to try and fix things? @edgemagazine.bsky.social apple.news/Iu56i6LOaQqO...

Getting very excited for tomorrow’s launch of #metalgearsolidmastercollectionvol2 so @theamarion92 and I went to check out @konami’s MGS goodies at @bookskinokuniyatokyo and we were not disappointed. If you’re in Tokyo at the moment, get over there

I’ve been hit and miss with #parkrun this summer (mainly because running in 30 degrees and 100% humidity is ROUGH!) but managed to get round today without stopping. That’s a win #japan #tokyo

I don’t think I’ll ever be able to ride the Shinkansen and not act like a complete tourist and take a load of videos and pictures of it. Riding it is always exciting #shinkansesn #japan #tokyo #travel

Took a boat ride around Matsushima Bay. Really beautiful scenery and loads more history about Date Matsamune. It’s amazing how different Japan can feel as soon as you leave Tokyo behind #Matsushima #travel #japan

I wanted to see if there really was a retro games premium taking advantage of the tourists in Tokyo and Yokohama and having picked up these games at the BookOff in Sendai, I think there might be. There were definitely fewer games to choose from, but I’m really chuffed with these #retrogames

Who wouldn’t want to buy gyutan (beef tongue) from a street vending machine?! To be fair, this isn’t the most egregious vending machine I’ve seen in Japan. Second pic is the customary onsen vending machine stacked with beers. Classic #japan #sendai

David Lynch @davidjonathanlynch.bsky.social · 18/08/2026

Having a great time in Sendai learning all about Date Masamune. You can see strong Gundam vibes in his helmet, but it was also one part of the inspiration behind Darth Vader’s helmet design. Also, I totally understand why Chris Broad loves it up here. The city of trees is fantastic #sendai

Off on our little city break. Out of Tokyo and up the coast to Sendai. It’s a couple of degrees cooler up here too. Lovely #sendai #shinkansen #japan #tokyo

David Lynch @davidjonathanlynch.bsky.social · 28/07/2026

What’s that? Why, yes. I am totally regressing. Call it a millennial midlife crisis but at least Sony can’t take these off me like they can digital downloads. I mean, they could come round and physically take it off me, but at least I could put up a fight then! #playstation #sony #biohazard

I don’t think I would’ve ended up working in games media if it weren’t for Halo. The series has meant so much to me and I was very privileged to go to what were at the time 343 offices (Bungie’s old place) with @samuelwroberts.bsky.social #halocampaignevolved @halo.gg

I had a blast recently working my way through #brokensword but it made me realize that @ubisoft took some HEAVY inspiration for #assassincreed (the backstory is essentially the overarching plot of Assassin’s Creed). Sure I’m not first to point this out. It’s a great story though (in both games)

It’s hot! No surprises there. Tokyo is rapidly approaching 40 degrees and being out on the bike is pretty brutal. Every traffic light becomes an endurance test. Shaded areas like this are a welcome treat, but by far the norm #japan #summer #heat

As I live right next to Yokohama, it’s great to explore it in Rise of the Ronin. Free on PS Plus this month. There’s nothing nicer than Japanese fall leaves to make a game look pretty. Plus it’s good to imagine winter is coming when it’s hotter than the sun outside #playstation #riseoftheronin

I can’t see myself moving on from my PS5 anytime soon given that Sony has decided to stop supporting discs. Seeing as I’m hanging on to the old PS5, I’m giving my console some retro-styled wood paneling. Reminds me of the excellent Atari 2600 and the wood-themed faceplate I had for my Xbox 360

PlayStation - still the place to play Tomb Raider. I played the original on PC first, back in the day but I always thought of it as a PlayStation game. There’s just something about those controls on a PlayStation control pad. Even though it did come out on Saturn back in the day, too #TombRaider
