Well done @loudowne.bsky.social good.services/badservicesb...
A middle age man with a grey beard wearing a lime green Bad Services uniform shirt answering the phone at Bad Services Ltd office with a speech bubble “Hello, Bad Services?” He sits at a desk with a green keyboard, old fashioned computer screen painted lime green, all the office equipment is green. There’s some kind of irony implied.

This graph shows the scale of change since 1999. Cycling 6 times bigger today than in 1999!
Line graph showing motor vehicle and cycle volumes in the City of London from 1999 to 2024. The dark blue line represents motor vehicles, which decreased from 198,000 in 1999 to 59,000 in 2024. The yellow line represents cycles, increasing from 8,000 in 1999 to 52,000 in 2024. Key events are marked along the timeline: Congestion Charge Zone Introduction (2003), Global Recession (2008), Cycle Superhighways Opened (2015), Global Pandemic (2020), and Dockless Cycling Boom (2023). A note above the graph states that cycling increased sixfold while motor vehicle numbers dropped by 70% over the period.

gosh, just tried this out
Google search: "two trees don't make an apple meaning"

AI Overview: The saying "two trees don't make an apple" is a metaphorical expression that means two things alone do not make a whole or a complete thing, even if they seem to share a relationship. It highlights the need for something else, whether it's an additional ingredient, a different perspective, or a different approach, to create the desired outcome.

Here's a more detailed explanation:

It's a concept of completeness:
The phrase implies that even if two things are related or share some characteristics, they are incomplete on their own.

Headline: More on the meaning of “reciprocal tariffs” You won’t believe how they (maybe) came up with the numbers www.ft.com/content/e025...
Quoted text from the Financial Times:

Here's what the White House and its crack team of trade investigators seems to have done: Take the US's goods trade deficit with any particular country, and divide it by the total amount of goods imported from that country. Cut that percentage in half, and there's the US's "reciprocal" tariff rate.

We can confirm this fits* the numbers for the first 24 countries listed, which we checked by hand because we could hardly believe it and also because we refuse to use Al for anything. Kudos to @orthonormalist and James Surowiecki, who both put it together, more or less.

Let's look at Bangladesh as an example. The US imported $8.4bn of goods from Bangladesh in 2024, giving it a $6.2bn trade deficit with the country. 6.2 divided by 8.4 is 0.738.

SD logic foundational premises
S-D logic axioms and foundational premises

Axiom 1/FP1	Service is the fundamental basis of exchange.
FP2 Indirect exchange masks the fundamental basis of exchange.
FP3 Goods are a distribution mechanism for service provision.
FP4	Operant resources are the fundamental source of strategic benefit.
FP5 All economies are service economies.
Axiom 2/FP6	Value is cocreated by multiple actors, always including the beneficiary.
FP7 Actors cannot deliver value but can participate in the creation and offering of value propositions.
FP8 A service-centered view is inherently customer oriented and relational.
Axiom 3/FP9	All social and economic actors are resource integrators.
Axiom 4/FP10	Value is always uniquely and phenomenologically determined by the beneficiary.
Axiom 5/FP11	Value cocreation is coordinated through actor-generated institutions and institutional arrangements.

Recovering from Covid, came down with a fever Monday night and was wiped out for two days. Feeling a lot better now and managed to get out for a walk up Bamford edge yesterday afternoon. The rain gave way to some blue skies.
Wide angle shot from the top of Bamford edge. Red autumn bracken in the foreground atop the hill. Ladybower reservoir’s silver blue in the middle distance. The peak of Win hill can just be seen silhouetted behind. Gold sunshine peeps through fluffy grey and white clouds and vibrant blue sky.
