¹ I say "hard" not "bad" because the economy isn't currently that bad. Unemployment isn't high (U-6 = 7.7%) Inflation isn't high (City avg = 3.4%) Avg disposable income isn't falling ($18k) But it is increasingly hard, with the working middle-class squeezed by a falling share of record productivity.

My favorite typo was when Chief Justice Rhenquist wrote about how reading his Supreme Court opinions after they were printed made them seem "vastly impoved." Like, the printer typoed the exact word Rhenquist was using to complement the printer's industry. Un...possible.

What's your "origin" video game? Most gamers have a lot of favorite games, sure, but there's always one that basically 𝘥𝘦𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘴 you. I'm talking about the game that flipped that little switch in your brain and made into a life-long gamer. So, which game is 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙨?

“Frankly, the smallest concerns are oftentimes the most important concerns.” He is going to judo-flip 'broken windows policing' into people believing in society again an quite frankly I'm here for it.

Tracey Ullman's character in Ted Lasso is like someone from the Monty Python 'The Visitors' sketch who didn't make the final cut.

Part of the effect is the deficit/debt, but part is also rates. NatDef isn't affected (directly) by Fed Funds rate changes.

Sadly, it's Disney's B&B. IMHO, they lost the moral of the original. The original Beast wasn't a behavioral mess in need of a tiger-mom/-girlfriend who makes him clean his room and not slurp soup. The Beast was a gentleman, cursed to be hideous.

Notably, the only group that got *healthier* overall were those who shifted from being conservative to liberal. Those who swung the other direction fared the worst – and substantially so. Spoiler: it wasn't just COVID. (Higher is sicker.)

A photograph from Life Magazine’s February 1937 issue shows a US government billboard that reads "World's Highest Standard of Living," "There's no way like the American Way" with an image of a white family driving in a car with a boy, girl and dog, and in front of the billboard a line of black US citizens wait in line for aid. According to the Art Institute of Chicago, "Often thought to be an unemployment line, the photo was actually taken in Louisville after the flooding of the Ohio River, which killed almost 400 people and displaced about a million more across four states."
