Cool to see my and also @drxdunlap.bsky.social ' s recent work put into dialogue with Malm. For a few years there it felt like Malm was taking all the oxygen for analysis of ecological struggle. My work tries to reorient analysis of social transformation to be more engaged, pragmatic & ethnographic

And always, care, rest, nourishment require dwelling and home, whether families work the land or work in the cities.

While taking back the land is the goal, it requires sustaining and preparing through lives of migration and laboring off the land to make it real.
A Land Back movement member sustained herself and family for years before joining the struggle to reclaim and restore a ruined plantation into a food forest

Modern, mobile work for land reclaiming movements is central and sometimes contradictory, leading us to re-imagine the role of land in Land Back and land reclaiming struggles.
Sumatran workers laboring to collect palm oil, driving motorcycles to the market, selling food in the streets, and working in industrial logging.

Glad to have some movement art and photography in my recent article considering land struggles as 'third-path struggles'. The first is a moving woodcut print' from Taring Padi, 'the fang of the rice plant' an anarcho revolutionary collective that helped bring down a dictator.

Solidarity to Toronto, where car people sitting in traffic want to rip out bike lanes so they can sit in traffic. Their experience and ours in Berkeley shows that exercise, safe transport, and decarbonization are no match for sitting in traffic 🤷🏽‍♂️

People’s park finally seems to be taken. My earliest memory of the park was c. 1987. It survived as a place to gather as part of broader struggles. RIP peoples park, Berkeley, Ca

One way of thinking about this is to see how protestors are shutting it down now, in the actually existing present. I joined and thought with protestors who raised blockades to shut down industrial plantations and logging operation to uphold their sacrifices and spur new action.

The vibe was strong at the rolling picket. Horns, bubbles, boom boxes, and bikes all out to let the regents know we need ‘fair contracts now!’ #FairUCNow #UCStrike @uaw2865 @sruuaw @UAW5810
