A VO₂ max of 40 can look pretty ordinary on one runner and seriously good on another. That’s the part I think gets lost when everyone starts comparing watch numbers Deeper dive into VO₂ max number means, and how runners can improve it, I put the full guide here. www.runnersblueprint.com/vo2-max/

Your age matters, but it doesn’t get the final say. Drop your age + 5K time below, then tell me whether you’re faster or slower than the chart. I added the proper age-grading breakdown in the first comment because that tells the fuller story.

Can’t run yet? Good. That means you should not be trying to “just push through” a full run. The biggest mistake new runners make is thinking walking breaks mean they’re failing. They don’t.

I swear the first marathon gets ruined early, not late. Like you feel good at mile 4 and start acting stupid. I did this. Most runners do. Too fast, no fuel, “I don’t need to walk yet” type thinking. Then mile 20 comes and yeah… now you find out. I’d rather start boring and still be alive later.

Most beginner runners don’t fail because they’re lazy. They fail because they start like idiots. Too fast. Too hard. Too much ego. Then one missed run turns into a missed week. The smart beginner doesn’t “go hard.” They start small enough to repeat. That’s how you become a runner.

Runners, be honest. Do you actually love running? Or do you love the version of yourself that comes out when the run gets hard and you still don’t stop? Because for a lot of us, that’s the real addiction.

Sub-40 in the 10K is not elite. But let’s not pretend it’s casual either. For most everyday runners, breaking 40 means you trained. You suffered. You learned pacing. You stopped going out like an idiot. You built the engine and the legs to hold pain for a long time. Elite is a different planet.

If you finished a 5K fun run, post it. Post the photo. Post the medal. Post the sweaty selfie. Post the “I survived” caption. People act like 5K is nothing. Be proud of it

The shoes in this graphic are fast. But shoes don’t run marathons. People do. Behind every 2:14 finish is years of quiet training nobody saw. Slow mornings. Long runs. Discipline. Your journey starts the same way. One run at a time. #running

Between Kiplimo, Kipchoge, and the new wave of super-shoe athletes… the limits of endurance keep getting pushed further. Makes you wonder: How fast can the half marathon actually go? Will we see a sub-57 soon? 🧠🏃‍♂️

HYROX has done something I didn’t think was possible. It’s getting CrossFitters to care about running… and getting runners to care about lifting.

(Rant Thread) A lot of runners quietly wonder if a 50 minute 10K is actually impressive. And before anyone jumps in, yes, it takes work. I was honestly over the moon when I ran my first 50:00...

(Thread) That marathon pace chart is useful but it also kinda messes with people. like… more than we admit. Because it makes the marathon look like a clean math problem. Pick a time. Find the pace. Repeat it 26 times...

At the Valencia 10K (Ibercaja 2026), 2,524 out of 14,134 finishers ran under 40:00. That’s roughly 18% of the field. I’m not sharing that to downgrade the achievement. I’m sharing it because the word elite does weird things to runners’ heads.

I've talked to a lot of runners who think a sub-40 10K is “elite.” And no, that doesn’t mean it’s easy or unimpressive. It absolutely isn’t. But let me add some context that usually gets lost online.

(Rant Thread) Most runners don’t want to run a marathon. They want to say they ran a marathon. And that’s where people get hurt. Or humbled. Or both. Because 26.2 isn’t just “a longer half.” It’s a different event. Different cost. Different consequences...

Race distance doesn’t care how motivated you feel. It responds to exposure. Time on feet, repeated weeks, long runs that don’t shock your system. That’s what makes race pace feel manageable instead of hostile. This isn’t about maxing out hours or chasing mileage bragging rights.

Most runners don’t get hurt because they’re unlucky. They get hurt because they train like they’re trying to prove something. Then they call it discipline. I know because I did it too.

Long runs… yeah. They start cute… then mile 8 shows up like a debt collector. Your legs are fine-ish… but your brain is like “we done yet?” every 30 seconds. These are the little tricks that stop me from quitting mid-run and walking home angry. 👇

Bad habits don’t show up like “hi I’m a bad habit” 😅 They sneak in… then one day you’re like… why am I always tired and kinda broken? I’ve been that guy. Still am sometimes. Here’s the running habits nobody wants to admit they do (and how I crawl out of them). 👇

People LOVE calling sub-40 in the 10K “elite.” And like… I get why. It feels elite. It hurts. You suffer. You earn it. But then I look at this screenshot and I’m like… wait. hold on.

Hot take: Running is awesome. Runners are awesome. But entitlement isn’t. A little awareness goes a long way. Share the path. Share the space. Share the sport. Nobody’s asking you to run less. Just… don’t be that runner. Guide to full post in the first comment

Easy runs feel useless until you realize they’re the reason hard runs work. If you can’t talk if breathing feels rushed if you finish wrecked that wasn’t “easy” Slow isn’t lazy. It’s how speed gets built. Be honest. How hard are your easy runs really? Full guide to easy runs in the first comment

If you paying $500 for a racing shoe, you better be running so fast the watch can’t even catch you 😭 Lemme explain: 5K/10K = quick (Adios Pro Evo 1, Metaspeed Edge+) Half/Marathon = cushion when you tired tired (Prime X2, Alphafly 3, Hyperion Max 2) What you racing next and what you wearing?

Most runners don’t need more motivation. They need someone to finally tell them the truth. So here it is. After a decade of running, I’ve watched more runners destroy their progress with avoidable mistakes than with injuries. Let me tell you more below...

I don’t always pray before a run. But there are days the road feels like church. The cold hits your lungs. The wind fights you. The sun burns your skin. And somehow, you still whisper — thank you. Because running isn’t just training. It’s surrender. Every breath a reminder that you’re alive.

When I started running, I thought walking meant weakness. If I slowed down, I’d lose progress. But walking turned out to be my foundation — not my fallback. It built my endurance, protected my joints, and kept me consistent. Walking isn’t quitting. It’s how real runners keep going.
