He immediately gives her an out after this. The point is to not limply retread the same ground but actually press the subject.
The interview transcript. Klein:
"I take your point that, obviously, presidents of both parties for a long time have done deployment of U.S. forces and application of force without declarations of war. You get into this, like: What is a war, really?"

Even worse is when the source is published but absurd. This is from the criticsm section of Syntactic Structures: critic calls out Chomsky for failing to provide a proof, but the proof is so simple most undergrads would encounter it. Super infuriating!
In the view of British-American linguist Geoffrey K. Pullum, Syntactic Structures boldly claims that "it is impossible, not just difficult" for finite-state devices to generate all grammatical sentences of English, and then alludes to LSLT for the "rigorous proof" of this. But in reality, LSLT does not contain a valid, convincing proof dismissing finite-state devices

Afer the rainstopped, the
power lines settled. We all wake up to a complete absence of sound. All the appliances (the dishwacher refrigerator oven micrawave laundry machine AC TV main power hum) were wound down. Even when they had been off, they were disipating heat and small vibrations. We realized We we had been living on a scaled down factary floor. Standing still, you couldn't help but notice how the hardwoods stopped purring

Consider how rare. that is. There weren't any sounds of animals, trees, or gravel. It was decidely unatural. There was no cliched spirituality. Even a powered down church has candles and humming priests

It was the feeling of touching something dead. I touched our countertops and nothing came back.If someone had told you all the electronics in your home were over even when they overwhelwing you, even when they were off. You would correctly dismiss them. Their feelings woald originate from some emotional turmoil. Given the opposite, we felt ashamed. For a decade, we were one power outage away from break down.

revisted with more dispair
another go at the doodle, just the bird, no props this time. Hoping that it is a bit more proportional and less overworked to resemble the reference a bit more closely.

I'd disagree, but many people talk about Newtownian mechanics vs relativity vs QM this way. (all are correct for some given discipline). Any philosophers of science and physics with a good critique of this? #philsci

I just completed "Red-Nosed Reports" - Day 2 - Advent of Code 2024 - Better late than never! #AdventOfCode adventofcode.com/2024/day/2
Screenshot of the day 2.2 solution in Clojure. What follows is the solution program (reindeer.clj):

(ns reindeer)
(require '[clojure.string :as str])

(defn gradual? [report]
  (every?
      (comp
        (partial >= 3)
        (partial abs)
        (partial apply -))
      (partition 2 1 report)))

;; tests for STRICT monotonicity
(defn monotonic? [report]
  (or
    (apply > report)
    (apply < report)))

(defn revise [report i]
  (concat
    (take i report)
    (drop (inc i) report)))

(defn safe? [dampened-report]
  (and
    (monotonic? dampened-report)
    (gradual? dampened-report)))

(defn dampened-safe? [report]
  (loop [i -1] ; initial revision should provide the entire list
    (cond
      (>= i (count report)) false
      (safe? (revise report i)) true
      :else (recur (inc i)))))

(as-> (doall (line-seq (java.io.BufferedReader. *in*))) x
  (map #(str/split % #" ") x)
  (map (partial map #(Integer/parseInt %)) x)
  (map dampened-safe? x)
  (filter identity x)
  (count x)
  (println x))

But remember, you don't even need to index everything in your relay.
screenshot of the definition for AT proto's relays from:
https://atproto.com/guides/glossary#relay

A Relay is an aggregator of data repos from across the Atmosphere. They sync the repos from PDSes and produce a firehose of change events. AppViews use a Relay to fetch user data. Relays are an optimization and are not strictly necessary. An AppView could communicate directly with PDSes (in fact, this is encouraged if needed). The Relay serves to reduce the number of connections that are needed in the network.

At least you learned what CPI was at some point. Growth, I guess.
