Per Dallas, Casey DeSmith just signed a two-year extension for $5M, $2.5 in AAV. Excellent goalie. Struggles on the penalty kill and weak on rebounds, but that's about it.

Sam Steel extended four years at $14.8M ($3.7M AAV). Not a huge fan. Good defensively, obviously, but he falls short in too many offensive metrics to be super pumped. Willing to accept it if Steel-Duchene-Benn stick around because that line was harsh (in a good way).

Per Stars PR. Jason Robertson is finally signed, putting to bed a lot of lame and/or dumb rumors. Granted, the saga is not over. But one year, $12 million. Seems good for one of the best players in the league.

I love the way-too-early mock drafts. Corey has Dallas taking yet another prospect who isn't a right-shot defender, which sounds about right. Maybe one day...(But seriously, Wycisk seems good, and given Dallas' age at center, I certainly wouldn't complain.)

Jamie Benn, signed by Dallas for $850,000 with $1.15M in performance bonuses. While there's valid debate about his captaincy, the Stars are hurting for LW depth, and Benn still has offensive juice. Probably a controversial move for some, but I think it's solid at that price.

Jason Robertson's next contract is predicted at eight years, $12.4M in AAV per @evolvingwild.evolving-hockey.com's model. A forward making slightly more than the other $12M wingers like Marner and Connor who Robertson is slightly better than is a good deal IMO.

Not a single Dallas Star in the top 20 on the rush, on the cycle, or on the forecheck. Conversely, even three Ottawa forwards show up. Not sure how you can look at this data, and not have a bagillion questions about the system the Stars are running.

Nils Lundkvist is a player that I've really favored, and fallen out of favor on. Ultimately his development took shape, and now it's hard to see this new deal - two years, $1.75 AAV - as anything other than a slam dunk for the Dallas Stars.

Dallas signs Aram Minnetian to a three-year entry level deal. I dig it. Minnetian has been one of my favorite Stars prospects since he was drafted. No doubt his development has stalled, if not regressed this year, but the foundation is still there for sturdy right-shot hybrid defender.

Dallas trades a 2027 2nd and a 2029 7th for Tyler Myers. Myers is a little more nuanced than Cody Ceci, especially as a better transition player, but the net effect is still similar: the Dallas Stars once again relying on spackle.
