Overnight, the #UNGA voted in an overwhelming majority to endorse the #ICJAO on the climate obligation of states, and advance efforts to implement efforts to comply with these obligations. A huge moment that wouldn't have been possible without Pacific leadership—the world has done well to follow.

A historic moment in Parliament yesterday, with the introduction of legislation to ratify the #GlobalOceanTreaty. The legislation must be passed quickly. We're also calling on Minister Watt to create five high seas sanctuaries in our region, starting with a large ocean sanctuary in the Tasman Sea.

I am very deeply saddened to hear of the death of Rob Hirst. Rob’s lyrics, drumming, and vocals are one of the indivisible elements that made Midnight Oil into an Australian cultural and political phenomenon, forming an intrinsic part of the soundtrack to many lives and campaigns. RIP Rob Hirst.
