Ooh, lovely reflection!

Autumn is here! Picture taken by my aunt.
Rows of orange and green patterned pumpkins in a field covered in fog. Above on the horizon, shining through the mist is an orange sun. The sky is hardly visible but is showing hues of yellow, pink and blue.

Cannot say I'm surprised. Sounds horrifying.

How could I trust her to help me with the former if she cannot do that? I feel really stuck in life right now, regarding transition, work, grief and living situation. Could really use some real friends outside the phone.

To clarify: They are accepting and not at all hostile and paradoxically that makes it worse. An example: My mum would go to Vienna with me to check out information and institutions to support me but cannot use neutral descriptions like "kid" instead of "daughter" until I'm fully out?

I should not be so surprised about that because it's exactly what I would do myself but it is not what I experience with them. For them nothing has changed at all. Not in language, not in behaviour. I won't lie, it really hurts.

Since I'm going to spend more time with my family in the months to come due to theatre reasons, I really must thank you all for showing me the respect I don't get from them. After coming out, you immediately switched to my new name and pronouns.

What was it?

This vet is responsible for me having Philly in the first place. She does her job so well that, when she moved relatively far away, we still used her services because she not only took care of Dais, she took the hellspawn's antics with humour.

The spiders might disagree - for them it's a very opulent restaurant!

These should be an art installation:
A lot (meaning A. Lot.) of spiderwebs under a bright lamp. They are mostly the typical orbweaver webs but are connected via intricate geometrical strands, sometimes i patterns, sometimes apparently random. Many webs also have a spider sitting at the centre. They are fastened to a gate or fence below. This was even more beautiful in 3D and the shimmering in and out of view of the various strands when moving one's head was a wonderful sight to behold.

And regarding shoes: He fortunately does not seem to have a shoe fetish either. The hellspawn loved the smelliest of footwear, he doesn't care about it at all.

At least he doesn't want to murder anyone. Fortunately it was very quiet because I did not have his travel case with me. Technically not allowed but he can easily win anyone over. And he doesn't scratch and cannot bite (not that he'd want to).

David @david-herbert.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
He's stealing hearts while doing so too - the vet's assistant is completely smitten with him and the vet herself excitedly took some pictures of him lying in the entrance hall before we even started. Too late, my heart was stolen first and I will never give him away!

But considering that Philly is in quite some pain during said exercises I'm a bit worried that he will lose some trust in me. It really seemed to help him though - he was so relaxed afterwards that he almost fell asleep on the examination table.

Given that I also removed Daisy's surgical drain, decided to give her the injections rather than going to the vet every month (we would have all been painfully murdered if that were the case) and have no issues with the boys' current medications, it is logical that stitches aren't too big a problem.

David @david-herbert.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
I noticed something what I assumed was a growth in his leg. After taking a look today the vet stated it might be a bullet/projectile. We didn't do an x-ray to confirm but he'll have some other surgery soon and she'll do a small incision to remove it then.

David @david-herbert.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
The vet is putting a lot of confidence in my pet care... I now have to do chiropractic exercises on Philly as well as having to remove the stitches of a (small) surgery.

You bet. And so well behaved too!

I can still hear the "My child"... She delivered a brilliant performance.

Philly admiring the handsome man in the window:
Philly, a white and grey tabby cat, sitting on my lap on a train and looking at his reflection.

In better news: He has found a friend.
Philly lying in a cat bed cuddling with a little plush pineapple - the pineapple has a laughing face. Philly is curled around it, kind of the revers of what I look like cuddling with him.

Friends, it is possible that Philly has been shot at some point of his life.

Who needs sleep when you can also yearn to have a proper conversation again while Simba is poking your head?

I think it's a bit weird when pets have their owner's last name added. But I only do so because one of my cats' official last name is "stray/ [place where they found him]". He never adopted my name when I adopted him, which is quite rude.

They're beauties. If I could drive I would seriously consider getting one.

Ooh, a DS! Easily my favourite Citroën car.

Please, I have two very handsome men in my bed every night already. I would not want to get greedy.

Asking whether I can join sounds wrong... But I wouldn't say no to going back to my own bed.

The smell was what stopped me. And the droplet being white rather than golden. I am so tired.

David @david-herbert.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
I almost licked a drop of Philly's meds off my hand because my motor memory acted as if it was honey... Wouldn't have been horrible though (other than if it tastes like it smells - most likely as Philly doesn't like it) as it's used in human medication too and it's vegan.

Admittedly I was contemplating on how to make a Heupferd pun...

I'm fortunate the surrounding gardens don't appear to be covered in insecticides. Simba even more so. Just yesterday he was hunting a gnat but I think it escaped eventually.

David @david-herbert.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
I'm mainly wondering where the rest is. Safest assumption is somewhere within Simba's digestive system.

Why is there a severed grasshopper leg on my computer desk...?
A photo of said leg. Unfortunately it's one from the last pir, i.e. the jumping ones. This grasshopper is either dead or about to be.

Counter the rise of the far right by giving people toying with Neonazi ideas a voice, would be another example.

How about we counter lack of education by closing down libraries and reduce school fundings, or perhaps stop billionaires to become richer and richer by giving them more money? Wait...

I'll be easily tempted. Definitely planning to return to Berlin one day. My list of museums is also far from finished.

"Almost". Admittedly, I was a willing victim of it all.

Ooh, delicious. I've had delicious kimchi in Berlin and @rwiset.bsky.social is to blame. Introduced me to some *very* nice restaurants.

I still want to get everything organised for transitioning, if possible starting the necessary therapies, this year but life and grief have put it on hold the recent months. And the boys cost *a lot* of money too - over 1000€ gone with just two vet visits. And we're not done yet.

David @david-herbert.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
While obviously my facial features haven't changed, I think I do look more masculine with dark hair. While I don't really want to dye it constantly, I'm going with brown for the next couple of months at least, due to theatre reasons.

A fitting quote: "I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo. "So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.” - J.R.R. Tolkien

Stay safe, take care and I too hope it's not a Goodbye but See you soon. The world is pretty overwhelming right now and social media reflects and amplifies that. I really do hope there are better times ahead. 🖖
