We think youth clubs and coffee mornings and your local community centre can do as much public good as museums and art galleries. So why aren't they also eligible for a VAT refund? We want to change that. Add your name if you do too. party.coop/campaign/vat...

Take VAT off Community Buildings
From youth clubs in the village hall to coffee mornings in the community centre, these are the building blocks of a strong community. They wouldn't be possible without the dedication of volunteers, the support of locals and of course – the community buildings and spaces that make it all possible.

We can achieve so much when we have a Labour council working together with a Labour government. Vote Labour on Thursday May 7th 🌹
Graphic made to look like two people messaging on a mobile phone. Person 1 asks: “What has the Labour government actually done recently to make our lives better?” Person 2 (Vicky Foxcroft) replies: “You picked a good time to ask, we’ve had a busy week”.Renter’s Rights Act Came Into Force. No fault evictions banned. Bidding wars ended. Biggest upgrade to renters’ rights in a generation.Mental Health Target Reached. 8,500 more mental health workers recruited to the NHS. Delivering a key manifesto promise. 3 years ahead of schedule.Crime and Policing Bill Became Law. Tackling violence against women and girls. Rebuilding public confidence in policing. Cracking down on crime and antisocial behaviour. Protecting retail workers from shoplifting and assault.

Ending no‑fault evictions in England is a major step forward — but it will only endure if it is actively defended. These protections must be locked in, strengthened, and never allowed to be rolled back. That's why you need to vote Labour on Thursday 7 May.

Who Ended No‑Fault Evictions? Labour Did
Ending no‑fault evictions in England is a major step forward — but it will only endure if it is actively defended. These protections must be locked in, strengthened, and never allowed to be rolled back. Labour has already shown what that leadership looks like: locally through strong landlord licensing and enforcement, and nationally through the abolition of Section 21. This is a party that delivers real change for renters, not empty promises.

Being a #Deptford Lewisham Labour councillor is about fighting for residents and not taking no for an answer. If you want that to continue, use your 3 votes to re-elect Dawn Atkinson, Rosie Parry and David Walker and vote for Amanda de Ryk @amandaderyk.bsky.social for Mayor @labouruk.bsky.social

Today the Labour Government is lifting over 8,000 children in Lewisham out of poverty by removing the two-child benefit cap. This is the difference a Labour Government working with a Labour Council and a Labour Mayor can make. Another step towards building a fairer, more equitable society.

My favourite Apollo programme fact. Pete Conrad - Apollo 12, the third person to ever walk on the moon - said as coming down the ladder: “Whoopee! Man, that may have been a small one for Neil, but that's a long one for me”. Even better, he said this to win a $500 bet that NASA didn’t script stuff.

From today, over 16,000 children across Lewisham and Southwark will be lifted out of poverty. Labour has lifted the two child limit, and with our child poverty strategy, we will go further and lift even more children out of poverty.
