Is anyone actually arguing City made it competitive? I think you’d struggle to find any real City fan that wouldn’t love the rules to be capped equally. Our whole schtick has been that we “got in before the drawbridge was pulled up” and we’ve been pretty vocal from the inside.

I dunno, is it not kind of the opposite? Feels like they’re just saying the government gave a bunch of money to the sponsors and then the sponsors gave money to City, but the government isn’t the owner of the club. Yeah I mean appeal is basically to the same people that just found them guilty, but think they’re setting up their stall of “we didn’t technically break any rules” so that they can take that higher afterwards. New dream scenario for the little guys if City somehow win this argument could be that PL have to rewrite their financial rules to either admit it’s barely been used to help overspending and is purely to restrict investment, or if it’s about fairness then capping everyone equally.

So am I right that it sounds like City found a financial loophole (just like selling your women’s team to yourself, or interest free shareholder loans, or saddling club with debt etc etc), but it’s basically too good a loophole or the PL just don’t like it. So technically didn’t break any rules.

I like that whether he meant to or not he actually voids the argument that City had this magic extra £900m more than all the other clubs though ha.
