Timezones are difficult, but combined with DST it's even more complex. Somehow the iOS #Delta app doesn't know how to correctly handle DST changes in The Netherlands during the flight (3am local time) when the arrival time has to be updated. It should be a delay, not arriving earlier...

Flight status screen for Delta Airlines flight DL0142 from Seattle to Amsterdam. Departure delayed to 13:59, arrival now expected early at 07:57. Shows nonstop duration of 9h55m and status ‘Awaiting Takeoff'. However, it seems the new arrival time isn't corrext due to disregarding DST change in The Netherlanss during the flight.

Currently in the Teylers Museum in Haarlem, The Netherlands and I stumbled upon a quote from the US Declaration of Independence. Felt a need to share this...

Yes, some things should've been fixed months or years back, but every experienced IT specialist knows how it goes. The only "irritation" I have is that this is the third time something got changed by the Exchange Team HOURS before an important meeting on breaking changes deadlines. COME ON! 😁

I'm working with some customers who will be glad that this deadline has been delayed, there's a lot of legacy cleanup going on with Exchange (Server) related to all sorts of things especially #security. Giving more time will help those orgs deal with all of those changes in a more relaxed way.

Several hours ago the #MSExchange Team posted an update on the #SMTP AUTH Basic #Authentication timeline. To summarize: the original date of disabling the option of March 2026 is now delayed to H2 2027 for existing tenants. Newly created tenants will have to deal with this from December 2026.

I trained myself to use the UPN above the down level (samaccountname) format e.g username@domain,com vs domain\username. But there have been a few times when authentication failed because I used the wrong one. Try the other format before diving further in troubleshooting #WeekITtip #Microsoft

One #IT related observation from 2025: do not underestimate the importance of "on-premises" infra know-how. Whether it's to fully offboard to the cloud, exit from the cloud or something in between: I still find value in having years of knowledge & experience with #legacy systems. Or is it just me?
