The early morning emptiness of Clifton Hill in Niagara Falls is a bit surreal. Soon this street will be filled with tourists and families but now there's only a handful of city workers.
An empty street filled with tourist attractions and stores.

The Shaw Festival in Niagara-on-the-lake currently features a fantastic production of Amadeus, the story of a resentful rivalry between Antonio Salieri and Mozart. Definitely recommend seeing it if you have the chance!

Exploring Montreal during some time off of work, so many restaurants are now using AI-generated posters. They all have a similar "AI look" and the images of food usually look very odd up close.

A really hot day in Cornwall, Ontario today for #CanadaDay but cold drinks are always close by. Lots of people celebrating and having fun. #canada

Overheard in the cafe from the old couple sitting at the next table: "We can't go on vacation, you can barely walk. I think those days are behind us." Do what you can today before the days that you could are behind you.

Horrible timing because of the cold weather. Ongoing power outages in the Côte Saint-Luc, Montreal West and the Côte-des-Neiges—Notre-Dame-de-Grâce (NDG) neighbourhoods of Montreal. I'm outside of these areas but I know people who are dealing with this right now. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

"They found that scientists who appeared to be using LLMs were posting about 33 percent more papers than researchers who didn’t." "Productivity" has gone up in terms of the number of papers written, but has science been improved or harmed by the use of AI? This article suggests the latter.

The Co-cathedral of Saint Anthony of Padua in Longueuil, Quebec. Just across the river from Montreal. Built in 1911, it was pleasantly warm inside in the middle of winter! And down the street is N Latté, a cozy place to sit and read with a cup of cappuccino. #longueil #montreal #quebec #booksky

My FedEx package pickup point was a half hour bus ride away. It was nice seeing a completely different part of my community, covered in snow, through the bus window.

Took down the #christmas tree today which always makes one a little sad. But it also clears the old year out and there's a sense of newness to the apartment with the tree gone.

Going to see "Marty Supreme" with my girlfriend in an otherwise empty movie theatre was a fantastic New Year's Eve experience. The clock struck midnight right in the middle of the final climactic table tennis game.

Saw four shows this year and we enjoyed them all. "The Bunker" was my personal favourite, from the same pair who gave us 2023's "The Stakeout" which was also great.
A poster for "The Bunker". Two men standing in a bunker posed comedically. A poster for "Intimi(Dating)" feature a woman's chest and face. A poster for "After Shakespeare" featuring the actress in the various Shakespeare characters she portrays. A poster for "Goregeous". Feature the damaged head of a sculpture.

The end of Ottawa Fringe 2025 on Sunday evening. It was surprising how quickly the signs and posters were taken down! People were still hanging out seeing the last "Best of Fest" shows when we left. #ottawa #fringe #fringeottawa #theatre #artsky
