Good morning. A bee on my Buddleja davidii, Butterfly Bush. Hope your Sunday is a happy and relaxing one my friends. If you’re on your own today, we’re all one big family here, so stop by and have a chat. 😊 #bee #NatureLovers #BloomScrolling #Stunday #MacroMonday #photography #ECK
A close-up photograph of a buff-tailed bumblebee feeding from a cluster of pale lilac butterfly bush (Buddleja) flowers. Seen from behind, the bee’s fuzzy black body is marked with bright yellow bands across the thorax and abdomen, ending in a white tail. Its translucent wings are slightly blurred in motion as it clings to the tiny trumpet-shaped blossoms, each with a vivid orange centre. The surrounding flowers fill the frame in shades of soft purple, while the background melts into a smooth blur of greens and mauves, drawing attention to the bee and the intricate detail of the nectar-rich blooms.

Researchers mapped a single Argentine ant supercolony spanning 6,000 km of European coastline. Billions of ants, no internal conflict, lethal aggression at the borders. That is the real science behind The Supercolony Wars. amazon.com/dp/B0GZRGK6MD spacedaily.com/m-a-single-s...

One entry I wrote as a failure turned out to be the most important sentence in the notebook. It said: practiced for twenty minutes. Nothing happened. But I stayed. When did showing up without results teach you something? #yogapractice #discipline #showingup

The audiobook is now live on Audible, narrated by Olivier Award winner Amy Gordon. A book told entirely from inside an ant colony. No human heroes. Just pattern, memory, and what persists. Honest reviews welcomed. amazon.com/dp/B0GZRGK6MD

THE SUPERCOLONY WARS: An Insect Epic
In 1907, a cargo ship docked in California carrying, among other things, a small colony of Argentine ants. Nobody noticed. Within a century those ants had formed the largest cooperative supercolony e...

I watched my son being born. Then my daughter, two years later. From the very first hour. I could see the threads of their personalities emerge; some of that never changed. I raised flocks of chickens and noticed a similar pattern. New post on emergence: emergentpress.substack.com

We've been taught that stillness means not moving. But the Buddha walked for forty-nine days after his awakening. Maybe wisdom needs legs. How does your body find its own way to stillness? #meditationpractice #embodiedwisdom #movementmeditation

Just like ants building a bridge, no single ant has the blueprint; the ant bridge emerges through infinite tenacity. What survives is what works. The internet was built the same way.

Did you ever notice that thoughts just pop into your head fully formed? You didn't watch them develop. You weren't there for the iteration. You just received the tree. The seed was always doing the work in the dark. New post exploring what that means. emergentpress.substack.com

I am a second-generation beekeeper. One afternoon, I watched a bee emerge from its cell for the first time. I genuinely believe I watched a mind assemble itself from instinct, from the collective intelligence. That moment never left me. Are there moments that rewired the way you see the world?

I spent 34 years in computing tech and have 5 US patents on managing complexity. Here’s my take: #1 reason vendors push constant software updates isn’t security. It’s cost. Maintaining multiple test beds is expensive. It's labeled “security critical," and suddenly we all have to take it. No choice.

A crab has a brain the size of a pencil tip. No Plan. No concept of what it is building. Just a simple meme -> dig, repeat, dig, repeat. Until the substrate reveals a city nobody planned. Consciousness isn't the builder. Consciousness is what emerges when enough builders follow the same signal.

No engineer designed this bridge. No architect drew the plans. No manager called the meeting. Each ant is the meme. The bridge is the pattern. No single ant contains the bridge. It only exists in the signal passing between them. Does collective intelligence fascinate you too?
