Great question! The truth is, we LOVED making The Wrong Way. It was some of the best laughs in my life! But the editing for that show took way more than any of us had time to give it -- so we had to put it on the shelf, yes.

This single panel comic shows a peacefully bucolic scene with blue sky, white puffy clouds, trees in the background, green grass, a yellow birch tree casting shade down on ARTHUR, the yellow duck who smiles sweetly with his eyes closed. On the other side of the panel lays an iphone.

The poem has red lines crossing out words and written new ones in red.

COMIC: The Balrog
PANEL 1: The BALROG from Lord of the Rings, falls in a cloud of smoke and flame. Next to him is a tiny GANDALF, his staff and sword falling next to him. On either side of them are the cave walls.
BALROG: Hey sport — I noticed you haven’t said a thing while we fall. …WE GOOD?

PANEL 2: Close up on the BALROG, still falling, he holds up two thumbs up.
BALROG: Because I’m really sorry about attacking you. I should’ve known the dark fire would not avail me. Especially since you’re a… “Wielder of the Flame of Anor.” Which, honestly? I didn’t know! Sounds super cool.

PANEL 3: Still falling, the BALROG continues.
BALROG: So listen: I’m SORRY that I whacked you with my sword, and whipped you, and yelled at you. THAT IS MY BAD. But maybe we could…START FRESH?

PANEL 4: The BALROG, still falling but now facing upwards. The tiny GANDALF now stands on his chest, stabbing him with his sword.
BALROG: yeah no ok that’s fair.

PANEL 1: The TRES PRIMOS (Tall, Squat, and Large) surround NANDO, after CAYETANO has walked away.
NANDO: Lord.
LARGE PRIMO: Yeah, Cayetano’s always been…a lot.

PANEL 2: A woman with short, half-shaved hair bursts from the crowd. She wears a dark uniform buttoned low. She wears distinctive glasses and large hoop earrings, and her lips are a dark lipstick.
EMILIANA: GENTLEMEN! What a thing to see you after 34 years.
TALL PRIMO: Emiliana.

PANEL 3: Close up on EMILIANA.
EMILIANA: And based on the buffalo grunting I could hear across the hall, I see Caye’s his usual calm, erudite self.

PANEL 4: SQUAT PRIMO holds his arm out begrudgingly introducing NANDO to EMILIANA.
SQUAT PRIMO: Emiliana, may I present your cousin, Fernando Cruz.
EMILIANA: Indeed! FERNANDO. I must admit, your files do you a disservice. You look much older than fifteen years.
NANDO: SIXTEEN.

PANEL 5: In silhouette, EMILIANA and NANDO face off.
EMILIANA: Sixteen! Well my goodness! Someone bring our new Emperor TWO pudding cups!
NANDO: “ha ha”. Yeah. Pudding cups.

PANEL 6: EMILIANA and NANDO shake hands, but NANDO glares at her.
NANDO: Good luck on stage, COUSIN. I’m gonna walk away now before I figure out why everyone avoids you.

PANEL 7: In the background EMILIANA looks shocked. SQUAT PRIMO and NANDO walk away, SQUAT PRIMO looks thrilled, NANDO looks nervous.
SQUAT PRIMO: WOW! Where’d that come from?!?
NANDO: Don’t tell her I actually do like pudding.

COMIC: Irish Elk
PANEL 1: SHELDON, a ten year old boy with large glasses, leans against a rock reading a book. ARTHUR, a yellow duck, sits on the rock reading over SHELDON’s shoulder.
ARTHUR: Whenever I read about the extinct Irish Elk, it’s always written in a SUPER DEPRESSING WAY.

PANEL 2: Close up on ARTHUR, yelling.
ARTHUR: “It’s antlers were way too large” “The antlers killed it off” “The antlers gave it a terrible quality of life.” why’s it gotta be a huge downer? …maybe it was more lie —

PANEL 3: Cut to a scene of an Irish Elk, with anglers stretching far off the panel, as he sits in a hot tub at night. He holds a martini with one hoof. He makes eyes at the viewer while pursing his lips. He is lit from the below from the light from the hot tub.

TODAY'S COMIC: Biannual www.sheldoncomics.com/comic/biannu...
PANEL 1: SHELDON, a ten year old boy with large glasses, trots along a sidewalk wearing a backpack. Next to him is ARTHUR, a yellow duck, who runs next to him, looking angry. Behind them is green grass, a brown fence, and green bushes all set aside a sunny sky.
ARTHUR: “Biannual” makes no dang sense.

PANEL 2: Closer up on ARTHUR as he walks along the sidewalk.
ARTHUR: “Biweekly” means every two weeks. OR twice a week. “Bimonthly” means every two months. OR twice a month. So those two words are already day-drinking.

PANEL 3: Closer in on ARTHUR, as he continues to run against a blue background.
ARTHUR: But out of nowhere, “BIANNUAL” stands its ground and says “Nope! I ONLY mean twice a year”?

PANEL 4: SHELDON has stopped running and turns to reply to ARTHUR, who, eyes wide, yells in frustration.
SHELDON: It’s because there’s also the word biEnnial, which means—
ARTHUR: I AM GOING TO SCREAM BIWEEKLY. GUESS WHO OFTEN.

TALL MAN: The FEDEX LOGO.

PANEL 2: Close up on the SQUAT MAN. Who holds his finger up in the air while making his point.
SQUAT MAN: Perhaps the greatest human achievement ever achieved since achieving become achievable.

PANEL 3: Close up on the “EX” part of the logo, with the two mens’ heads poking in to frame.
SQUAT MAN: Somehow — using SHEET ARTISTIC GENIUS — they hid an arrow between “E” and “X”.
TALL MAN: ASTOUNDING.

NARRATION: This is what graphic designers sound like.

Bluesky pals! I have a sci-fi graphic novel called DRIVE, & it's my favorite thing I've ever done! If you need a long, escapist read at the moment the entire thing is free to read, here: drivecomic.com (THIS PAGE: His Father Should've Had the Crown)
PANEL 1: CAYETANO directs his attention to TRES PRIMOS.
CAYE: Are you behind this boy Fernando standing for Emperor? That feels like you three.
TALL PRIMO: It’s not us, Caye. IT’S HIS RIGHT. His father should’ve had the crown.

PANEL 2: CAYE digs deeper on his point, while TALL PRIMO looks at him, surprised.
CAYE: LOTS of should’ves and could’ves in this family! Given. your mother, YOU should’ve been head of Indústriaglobo by now. So let’s not talk about the roads not taken.

PANEL 3: The SQUAT PRIMO responds as CAYE responds, exacerbated.
SQUAT PRIMO: You were closer to his dad than we ever were, and still you—
CAYE: I DID EVERYTHING I COULD! But this curséd family has the knives out every five seconds. I couldn’t watch him every minute of the day.

PANEL 4: Intense closeup on CAYE’s face.
CAYE: I loved that man! But I’ll be dead and buried before I let A CHILD take the throne, when the Vinn and the Continuum and God knows what else is coming for us.

PANEL 5: NANDO looks to his side while CAYE directs his attention to him, pointing at him.
CAYE: I’m sorry to you Fernando. (smaller) For a thousand reasons I’m sorry. But there’s not a chance in hell I’m letting you run this empire.

PANEL 6: NANDO in the background looking a little shell shocked, CAYE dramatically puts his hand against NANDO as he turns and walks away.
CAYE: Let’s get these asinine speeches over with. I’m taking the damn throne. And then I’m dragging us all back from disaster.
