On the third day he took me to the river He showed me the roses and we kissed And the last thing I heard was a muttered word As he stood smiling above me with a rock in his fist
Still of Julie Andrews from the movie. The Sound Of Music. She is sitting outdoors on a glorious alpine day, guitar in hand, singing to a group of enthralled young children. She is definitely not singing the Nick Cave song Where the Wild Roses Grow as implied by the demented author of this skeet.

I hadn’t bought a book in a while, and can barely remember the last graphic novel I purchased (Black Orchid, maybe?). Really enjoying Punk Rock Jesus so far…
Cover of the 2025 edition of the graphic novel Punk Rock Jesus by Sean Murphy. The image on the cover is of a young man with a Mohawk wearing a black singlet and dog tags screaming into a microphone in front of the Stars and Stripes.

A very cute but quite odd cat patiently waiting for a drink because, while it’s obviously completely insane for a cat to drink out of a bowl, the lack of opposable thumbs means turning on a tap requires waiting for a human.

Got to play a rare, and last, competitive game with my boy before he leaves for Newcastle later this year. He normally plays 1st grade and my top div days are long behind me. But 2nd Div were short so he filled in and I blagged my way onto the bench for the final game of the season.
Photo of a proud and happy not quite ex-footballer who had a chance to play one last competitive game with his vastly more talented son. They are sitting on the bench before coming on for the Coffs Coast Tigers Men’s Second Division team. The team was down 2-0 away to Woolgoolga but the pair helped inspire a comeback which ended in a 2-3 victory.

Last time I posted a screenshot Ike this it was fire. This time it’s flood. Feeling very fortunate that everything is still in one piece. Many are not in that position…
Screenshot showing current emergency alerts for northern New South Wales on May 22, 2025. There are almost too many to count and they are so numerous and crowded that it is almost impossible to see any place names on the map.

I’m not sure what the end of the world will be like. But if there is still mobile coverage when it happens I imagine it will look something like this…

This is a very bad photo I took a while back of a tawny frogmouth. They’re beautiful but very shy birds so felt blessed to have one so near. We also have plenty of rainbow lorikeets and eastern rosellas, and magpies (my favourite). I’m an appreciator rather than photographer, so no photos!
A very poor photograph of a tawny frogmouth sitting on the ground by the photographer’s vehicle. Apologies to all genuine bird photographers!

I’m using 6. No applause necessary; I’ll see myself out…

Feeling fortunate right now. Stay safe, peeps.
A screen shot showing current weather/flood alerts for the NSW MId-North Coast. Coffs Harbour currently has only minor warnings, but areas to both the south and north (not shown) are not so lucky as TC Albert starts to make landfall.

Getting ready for work in the big city. Not sure I can afford to live in Sydney but I do love stopping by.

Just parked the car to this view. Back to work, I guess.

The post led me to the book as well. I know it’s not specifically for ADHDers but there’s plenty there that I’m finding mighty helpful. Thank you! 🙏

Sending you a brilliant blue Boxing Day sky from eastern Australia and hoping your Christmas is as brilliant as mine has been so far.

Inspired by a post I saw today: This is a 1,300+ year-old Chinese Scholar tree (中国槐) at the Wild Goose Pagoda in Xi’an. It’s not looking spectacular in January, but still patiently waiting for the weather to warm to send out more new leaves. I just love being around a living being this ancient.
