I think the entire point of accessibility options is that the people who require them don't have to ask for your special permission to understand what you've posted, because it's just there already. It's about including people by default. It generally only takes a minute or two.

Be kind. #Booksky
Post by Nora Ellis @nora-ellis

I work at a bookstore. Teenager came in daily. Read for hours. Never bought anything. Finally asked. "Looking for anything specific?" "Just reading. Can't afford books. Library's far. This is closer."

Let him stay. Read whatever. Whenever. Brought him snacks. Hot chocolate. Safe space. Learned his story. Foster kid. Seventh home. Books were his escape. His education. His hope.

Dammit, YouTube. You had me excited there for a second.

The image shows paleontologists (presumably) working at a site using tools. Next to them are images of dinosaur bones in boxes and laid out on sheets of paper. Underneath that it reads, "Jaw-dropping tyrannosaur..."

"Just...stop describing me." Far as I know I've never even met Steven Erikson. Excerpt from Legacies of Betrayal.
"All grinding to a halt, and why was this good? Because Dully hated money. He hated the very idea of money. Wished it'd never been invented, and whoever had invented it deserved every curse imaginable, uttered over spraying blood-sacrifices every day and every night for all time until the end of the universe. So there. Hahahaha."

I had to venture forth to get the new Erikson book yesterday, and on my way saw this charming piece of graffiti which really brightened my day,

Because 70's Doctor Who was on repeat in Australia when I was growing up, it's hard for me to pinpoint which I saw first, but it was one of this lot - they all terrified me. Honourable mentions go to daleks, cybermen, rutans and Sutekh's gift of death. More info in alt text
The Auton attacking the UNIT jeep and making off with the Nestene "thunderball" started it. Then there's that infamous scene of the shop window mannequins coming to life. DW was a good source of scares. This cliffhanger was stunning - you get to see the monster and it looks AMAZING! - but even scarier was the scene with Zygon-Harry attacking Sarah with the pitchfork. Lis Sladen sells the terror SO well. This whole story is amazing, but those two scenes stand out in my memory.Keeler turning into a krynoid, being fed chunks of meat and begging Sarah to release him before yelling repeatedly at her, You want me to die! Wow. Also in this story is that trash compactor that Chase feeds people into. Properly chilling stuff. Mr Sin, nightmare fuel. This character was SO creepy.

It's been a good week for cycling, & choosing to just go every day regardless of anything makes life much easier for my AuDHD brain. No more dithering, no more guilt for choosing not to go. The physical benefits have been significant, too. Losing weight despite eating more, better memory & sleep.

Double page spread, sketch. Pencils by David Blewer.

An inset panel on top left shows a vast plane of wreckage from above. The wreckage forms a rough circle and is intersected by a river.

Main image, a man in the lower left of the image, his back to us, looks out over a panoramic shot of the ruins of an alien city. Plumes of smoke rise from fires in the distance, and further behind that is seen an enormous engine of alien design, eldritch energies pouring forth from the top.

The man is muscular, has long hair and is wearing rags tied around his waist.

An expansive double page spread showing a vast underground lair characterised by many flights of brick stairs leading up from a body of water to various doors and exits. Rivulets of water stream down in multiple cascades across the image, and shafts of light filer in from a set of windows high above.

At one door on the upper right side of the image stands a man in black robes holding a torch. A red dragon or perhaps bird of fire is emblazoned on his chest.

Three panels are set into the brickwork. The first shows Shang-Chi in hand to hand combat with a robed, bald east Asian man. The second shows the two of them side by side. The third panel is a close-up of Shang-Chi's face, showing from the bottom of his nose up to his forehead.

Splash Page of the Day Pencils by Gene Colan and Inks by Tom Palmer. Problem with searching for great images online is I can't always find out what issue they're from, but I couldn't go past this - it's exceptional. Gene Colan was a colossus of comic art.
Coloured comic book art showing a giant Dormammu grasping a floating Doctor Strange by the leg. Strange has cast a spell which hits Dormammu's face in an eldritch green blast, to no effect.

Dormammu: Dr. Strange--you who have ever called yourself Master of the Mystic Arts--learn now how puny your much-vaunted power when 'tis I who oppose you...when 'tis I who now stand ready to snuff out the brief candle of your worthless life...I, Dormammu!

Dr Strange: Then it was you who sent your wraith-like hordes against me...phantom shapes which existed merely to drain my mystic power...til I remained but a shrunken shadow of my former self!

Credits box: Another legend-laden landmark, ripped untimely from the talented tentacles of: Stan Lee, editor; Roy Thomas, writer; Gene Colan, Artist! Inked by Tom Palmer; Lettered by I. Watanabe

Splash Page of the Day Fantastic Four #51 pg 1 Pencils by jack Kirby and Inks by Joe Sinnott An iconic image and a famous story. Going to do a run of some classic artists from a ways back. It took me a while to appreciate Kirby's art - when I was a kid I didn't like it, but he was rightly King.
The Thing from the Fantastic Four standing on a city street in the rain. Pencils by jack Kirby and Inks by Joe SInnott.

Caption reads: The Fabulous F.F. must solve the terrible riddle of...

"THIS MAN...THIS MONSTER!"

Quite possibly this may be one of the greatest illustrated epics yet produced by...Stan Lee, writer; Jack Kirby, penciller; Joe Sinnott, inker; artie Simek, letterer.

Every day I'm grateful I'm not seeing sick or dead birds around where I live. Every day I wonder if it's just a matter of time. 😥 Today I saw this kookaburra and currawong on the clothesline. It made me smile. 😊
