Dork. Except when too busy being a doofus. And sometimes I go outside and pay attention to things.

Look who survived the drought and record-high temps! I've refilled that box-turtle-height saucer every day since the beginning of July just in case Turtle was still around. 😄

Ultra-local honey from the neighborhood bees. 😄

While doing a walk-through before mowing the lawn this a.m., I found this expertly woven bird's nest on the ground near our eastern red cedars. No eggs, broken shells, or nestlings nearby; maybe it belonged to a bird whose breeding season has ended. I moved the nest under the cedars before mowing.
A bird's nest, woven from what looks like mainly browned grasses and vines, sits on the ground among green grass blades, dewberry vines, and tiny tree seedlings including sugarberry and mulberry.

Could Earth be considered a small beauty? I think it could. #SmallBeautiesHour #Perspective
A small, pale, bluish dot on a black background. A white arrow pointing to it reads, "You are here."

Superimposed on the black background is this text:
"Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it, everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every 'superstar,' every 'supreme leader,' every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there - on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam."
Carl Sagan, 1934-1996

At the bottom of the image is written:
"The Earth as imaged from the the Voyager 1 spacecraft, as it exited the solar system in 1990. Earth is nearly 4 billion miles away in this image."

Every evening around 7:30, a hummingbird sits on the electricity feed to my neighbor's house. The hummer stays about 15 minutes, then buzzes off to parts unknown. The flag is in my neighbor's backyard. The crepe myrtle is in mine.
A view of an evening in suburbia as seen from my patio. A cloudy sky with streaks of blue serves as the backdrop to abundant green trees, an American flag on a flagpole and a crepe myrtle with dark pink flowers. The star of the scene is a silhouetted ruby-throated hummingbird perched on an electrical feed line leading to the neighbor's unseen house.

Who knows??? A young lady in a wool overcoat appears to be running next to and on the far side of a light blue or maybe light green car. The car looks to be a late 1970s/early 1980s model, but I am no expert. Behind and partially cropped out of the frame is a highway direction sign reading, WE 10 RAYNHA TAUNTO. I am interpreting that as West 104 Raynham Taunton, which would all be in Massachusetts.

Written on the back of this photo is "Wellington Road." A Google search to try to determine the location revealed that just about every English-speaking location in the world has a road named Wellington Road. My best guess for this is that it is in northern Colorado. There is a Wellington Road there that would have been between where my mother once lived, in northern Colorado, and where her younger sister once lived, in southern Wyoming.

A throwback for #FingerpostFriday: This is a print I made from one of my father's old slides from the early-mid 1950s when he was stationed in Germany. I don't know exactly where this is, but my best guess, based on the fingerposts, is Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Thoughts, confirmations, other ideas?
Image printed from slide film onto Polaroid film. The emulsion layer was removed from the Polaroid print and affixed to watercolor paper. Unsure of the location, but my guess is it's from Garmisch-Partenkirchen, based on the fingerposts reading, from bottom to top:

Griesen Landesgr. 12km
Eibsee 12km Grainau 8km
