We send stuff to space, and part of that stuff falls. Every year, more uncontrolled objects are reentering Earth's atmosphere. Most of these objects burn out before hitting land, but not all of them. If this trend continues, we might see more impacts in the future. #dataviz #space #earth

Talking about space stuff falling, coincidentally I've just prepared this data visualization:

Betting ads made up 17.3% of all World Cup ads in Argentina, more than any other category. Meanwhile, 16% of Argentine teens (13-18) admit they've bet online, and 53% of them believe you can "win money easily." The real story: over 95% of online bettors end up net losers (UC San Diego). #dataviz

Bar heights! The expanding width is visual only, to ensure that the gap between bars is constant as they move away from the center of the circle.

Do Argentines hate England? Musically, no. Historically, it's complicated. Over 1,330 hours of British music passed trough my pleased Argentine ears. Cheers for the music, lads. Today, though? The mythical little Argentine with the No. 10 blue shirt returns. #dataviz #worldcup #argentina #england

Another example of #AI #slops: When trying to assign timestamps to events, if I googled "at what time was Cape Verde first goal" Gemini simply adds 59' to the start time of the match, not accounting for the additional time or halftime! Be careful people.

Cape Verde almost annihilated 46 millions Argentines yesterday (myself included). What a game... my heart rate illustrates how HORRIBLE of Friday night I had. Much respect to Cape Verde's national team, they were applauded by the Argentine fans and the world! #worldcup #dataviz #football

The group stage of the 2026 World Cup ended with 68,162 passes, 597 shots on target, and 215 goals. Also, African nations made history, with 9 of 10 qualified to the round of 32! #dataviz #worldcup #fifa

Possession doesn't win World Cup games. No team with over 65% possession won their first 2026 World Cup match. Is this an mind-blowing insight? No, just surprising. There is no correlation between possession and match outcome so far. I found this a bit counter-intuitive! #dataviz #worldcup

More people are attending Women's Super League football games. Yesterday, I was happily surprised to see 55,000 people attending a friendly football match between Brazil and USA women's national teams. That inspired this visualization. #dataviz #football

The "League of the World Champions" is also the world champion in football matches ending 0-0 in 2026. With 30 teams and only 2 relegations, draws are "good enough" for many teams. We, the fans, pay the price by watching lower quality football. #WorldCup #football #dataviz

The #football Argentine first division has 30 teams and only 2 relegations. Because of this, many weaker teams tend to aim for draws, and produce boring games. Comparing the data against the Brazilian first division (20 teams, 4 relegations), the results speak for themselves. #dataviz #brasileirao
2x2 multiplot showing the results of Argentina's LPF vs. Brasil's Brasileirão. Football results are very different in both leagues, likely caused by the differences in format. The Argentine league incentivizes draws.

Most palindromic places in Argentina are concentrated in the north. Many of these come from the guaraní language (Itatí, Amamá, Yatay). Makes me wonder how many palindrome places Paraguay has! I will probably explore that later, but I'm hoping for a Paraguayan #dataviz creator to do it 🙏

It seems that vaccinating your children "isn't cool" anymore. South America made great progress in immunization coverage during the 2000s, but sadly, that progress is being lost in recent years. #dataviz #publichealth #30DayChartChallenge | Day 24: Data day UNICEF
Timeseries plot showing the DTP3 immunization coverage in 10 South American countries. Chile and Uruguay stand out above the 90% target set by the WHO, but other countries saw a decline in coverage in the recent years, especially after COVID.

#Inflation isn't really gone in Argentina: it's been rising for 11 months (3.4% in Mar-26). But the story doesn't end there: Food, beverages, housing & utilities have reported inflation ABOVE the national average for 6+ months. These hit lower income populations hardest. #dataviz #economics
Multiple column chart plot showing monthly inflation rate by category in Argentina. Red indicates values above national average, green below. Argentina inflation has been rising every month between May-25 (1.5%) and Mar-26 (3.4%).

Even controlling for hours worked, men earn more per hour. Why does the gap exist? This data can't answer that, but it can show what doesn't explain it: paid hours worked and education have nothing to do with it. Built with D3.js. Source: EPH (INDEC)
000
Franco Guiragossian @dataviz.ar · 12/04/2026
Part of the story: men work more paid hours per week. Note: This chart only considers paid work. Women spend roughly twice as many hours on unpaid domestic and care work (INDEC, 2021).
100
Franco Guiragossian @dataviz.ar · 12/04/2026
On average, men also earn more per month. At every education level, men's average monthly income exceeds women's.
100
Franco Guiragossian @dataviz.ar · 12/04/2026
It starts with access to paid work. Men have consistently higher employment rates than women across all education levels. The gap is widest among those with incomplete primary education (41% vs 23%).

Franco Guiragossian @dataviz.ar · 12/04/2026
In Argentina, women earn between 14% and 26% less per hour worked than men, depending on education level. The gap shrinks with more education, but never closes. A data story in 5 charts, from Argentina's latest household survey (EPH-INDEC, Q3 2025)🧵👇 #dataviz #GenderPayGap #Argentina

Is the economy doing alright? Yes, inflation is dropping! No, jobs are declining! Reality is complex. We live in a time when cherry-picking and confirmation bias are at their peak. Critical thinking doesn't sell much, unfortunately. Inspired by @yesbut.bsky.social #dataviz #economy #argentina

Private sector jobs: Line

Official data (INDEC, SIPA) from Argentina. Monthly frequency. The chart shows conflicting trends: Yes, inflation has been declining (good for the economy) but at the same time jobs are being lost (bad for the economy)

Football teams with expensive players tend to obtain more points (duh) But when we look at the data in a scatterplot by quadrants, we can immediately spot the overpeforming teams (cheap, many points) and the letdowns (expensive, few points) #dataviz #football #soccer #futbol #libertadores #sport
