They didn't deserve any of it, but I am glad they dealt with the issues in such a short time. Well done! Also, the big dashboard with the server numbers? That was definitely prepped beforehand, so they were equipped to deal with a crisis. This is a sign of a dev team that knows their shit.

I was in the #WARDOGS Discord server during launch. I saw the review bombing and entitled whining, as these people were going through their own personal version of Hell, trying to save the work they have been doing for years and trying to give us a fun experience. Developing for iOS is never worth the headache IMO. I stopped developing client apps, even. Too much hassle. Google Play used to be better a few years ago, but I hear it has gotten more complicated recently.

Bloated scopes are ruining the industry? Nah, can't be. In all seriousness, AAA has forgotten the first rule of game design - if it doesn't support the core experience, it should be cut. And it is not the designers, but the execs that made games a long time ago that need to remember it.

Honestly, I can't even be mad that I can barely get an interview for a game design role nowadays. I mean, I am competing with people that have worked on things like Doom, The Elder Scrolls, Tomb Raider, Deus Ex, and Thief. It only makes sense.

However, most assets are made in-house. And those bought off somewhere are usually tweaked at least a little to fit the style of the ones produced in-house.

I have worked for a AA studio, but I know for a fact that in most AAA the same rules apply. And usually, the assets are just bought off their respective storefronts (e.g., Unity Asset Store) the same way that indies do it. It is the same license, it's just that bigger studios can buy more assets.

I used to use Google Assistant to dial numbers, answer questions, and set nav routes for me hands-free while I was driving. Ever since it got replaced with Gemini, I cannot do any of those successfully. "Call my wife" results in "there is no contact for 'my wife'" or something along those lines.
