When your human is sewing up all the toys you worked so hard on.

A brindle dog with a white chest and white socks lies on a blue rug next to a well-mended elephant toy. She looks up at the camera with an attentive expression.

And we've reached this stage of watching football on television.

A tv showing the opening of Croatia Ghana with a tablet propped up below it showing the opening of England Panama.

Clem Fandango does not share my love of the beautiful game.

Close up of a brindle dog's face looking at the camera with a judgmental expression, nearly completely blocking the view of a television showing a football game.

And this. I'm dying and kind of want to know how that version goes, actually. Who is Robert? Why does Robert have their own Prince???

From: Avra Copeman
Subj: Hamlet, prince of Robert

Hello M. Darusha Wehm I just read the synopsis"and i instantly felt drawn into the concept.
There's something about the direction of the story that feels deeply thought-provoking...

Two bangers from today's crop of book club spam: This from, can you believe it, Kimberly *Beers*:

Hi M. Darusha Wehm

My name is Kimberly, and I help organize a sci-fi and fantasy reading group in Texas called Books & Beers.

A few people in our group recently picked up The Department of What It (Really) Means to Be Human, and it ended up becoming one of those books that kept coming up in conversation afterward.

What people especially liked was [short personal observation].

A highlight from my camping trip was this visit to Orakei Korako. You can get unnervingly close to the boiling mud and thermal geysers, and hot damn is this planet of our ever weird.

Orange, brown and white earth with a thermal spring running across it. Steam rises from the centre, and a sinkhole or whirlpool is to the left. Green trees surround the pool and there are hills in the distance.

And guess what showed up in the post today??

A hand holds two paperback copies of The Department of What It (Really) Means to be Human by M. Darusha Wehm. The cover is a grey background with yellow text and line art of small, round pills. A full bookshelf is in the background.

Bonus with Clem Fandango.

A white person with pink and teal hair wearing a suit (trousers and blazer) that is black with lots of white cockatiels and pink flowers on. They are wearing a black short underneath, a small pounamu necklace and black and yellow Adidas. There's a blue carpet on the floor, a red sofa and white chair and they are in front of a window with rolling green hills with houses and a blue sky with clouds. Next to Darusha is an unimpressed brindle dog facing away from the camera.

As a former cruising sailor I’m bound by law (the Law of the Sea) to say Captain Ron.

Kurt Russell with long blond hair with a wee braid on the side, wearing a shell necklace, earrings and one of those white singlets that’s mostly just straps so you can see his tanned nude chest. He’s on a sailboat, with the sea in the background. He’s got an eyepatch over his left eye, zinc sunscreen on his nose and lips and he looks thoroughly unimpressed.

Yes, it did take 5 days to get the tape off (everyone else in Te Whanganui-a-Tara knows why) but it's not bad! Some scraping of the old paint off the windows still to do, but everyone will know it's my house now.

A bright pink door with three small stained glass panels of a white background and pink flowers. The jamb and trim is painted teal. There's a small black sign on the door reading "Bienvenido a Casa Fandango."
