Posting is an API client that runs completely in your terminal - and version 2.6 is out now! It's one of the biggest releases yet, adding the ability to edit headers/query params, compact mode, more autocompletion and much more! github.com/darrenburns/...

Release 2.6.0 - Editing rows, compact mode, header value autocomplete, and more! · darrenburns/posting
This is a pretty huge release. It introduces a bunch of features the community requested, and a bunch they didn't! Edit rows without deleting them 🤯 Finally! You can now edit headers, query params,...

If enabled, you can use env vars in Posting - but this could cause you to leak info if you're streaming for example. By default, there's now a simple substring check on the name of the variable, and if it looks like information you may not want to be public, it'll be hidden from the preview.

While in compact mode, Posting's command palette, theme picker, and request search menus now appear to integrate with the URL bar. The theme selector also takes up minimal space now, allowing you to see more of the theme in action. github.com/darrenburns/... #python #opensource #programming

What is this? An API client for ants?? Compact mode is working nicely with different themes, horizontal mode, and jump mode. I also added a subtle background to indicate which tab has focus-within - something that I lost by hiding tab underlines. #python #opensource

There are a few features in Posting that I really need to advertise more, and I'll be trying to find a home in the docs for more of these. One thing is the ability to easily adapt the UI on the fly. Press ctrl+h to toggle the sidebar, and ctrl+m to expand the focused section

A few weeks back, I shared one of my favourite macOS hidden features: the ability to zoom *way in* on the cursor. I’m curious, are there similar features on Windows or Linux? Or software that can accomplish the same goal? It’s such a boon for front-end work.

My Atuin wrapped 2024 😄 I think the "Command Evolution" stuff is the wrong way around though. Pretty sure I only started with Atuin a few months ago and never used it in the first half.

To make it easier to design themes, Posting 2.3 will feature live editing. If you edit a theme on disk, the UI will update immediately, giving you realtime feedback! github.com/darrenburns/...

Restored "theme previews" - highlight a theme and the UI will update to preview it without actually having to switch to it. Similar to VS Code. I think this was the last thing that needed updating for this release. A few unrelated bug fixes hopefully, then releasing Posting 2.2.

Do you know what a .pth file is? It's a fascinating quirk in Python. Python loads all .pth files in a virtualenv's site packages, and if a line in it starts with "import " it evaluates it. Makes it possible to run code on startup automatically without importing.

When navigating a Textual app with the keyboard, I always felt that my eyes got a bit "lost" when I arrived at a Tabs widget. We're adding a highlight to indicate the tab that has focus, which I think makes it much clearer (and more consistent with other widgets!). #python

How do you know a button is a button? I guess the background color matters. The fact a verb is written inside it? Is it the size relative to the other content? Is it possible to make a button look like a button inside a TUI app where all text has equal size, *without* making it extra chunky? 🤔

Really interesting thread about the at protocol Bluesky uses. I love the concept and it appeals to me more than my (basic) understanding of how Mastodon works. I hope we’ll see some nice tooling to make it easy to host content on our own servers which apps can aggregate from.
