I may have overdid it with the Something Is Killing the Children blind bags but at least I have some gorgeous covers, including these three, to show for it.

Three bagged comics (each a copy of Something Is Killing the Children issue 50) on a hardwood floor. They are three different covers featuring the character Erika Slaughter and all are black and white with the title stamped in shiny, red lettering.

Good writing, nice art (colours were particularly well done), interesting characters. Would recommend so far.

A tablet with a page from the comic "Sunder Tome 1" showing am anthropomorphic goat boy dressed in blue and yellow walking towards the reader, away from a building. Three characters appear in the background by the building with sad looks. A narrative text box has the words "And may all the gods watch over you" near the bottom of the page.

Didn't make it to the shop today, not that I have anything coming out this week, but still getting in some comic reading. Decided to check out Sunder Tome 1 after seeing the single issues being released. #Comics #ComicBooks

This week was light on comics for me but that's pretty much every week these days. I do still have a pile of older books to get to, hopefully before the "best of the year" lists start coming out. 🤞🤞

Three bagged comic books on a hardwood floor. "Spider-Man/Hulk: Fire and Brimstone" issue 2, "The Muppets Take The Marvel Universe" issue 1, and "Infernal Hulk vs Wolverine" issue 1.

While talking to @ericxyz.bsky.social at Fan Expo Canada somehow the topic of the first comic I remember from my childhood came up. In the moment I could describe the cover but not the details of it. Because of how my brain works I went digging for a photo I took of it. Marvel Super-Heroes 80.

Two bagged/boarded comic books laying on a hardwood floor. One is Marvel Super-Heroes issue 80 featuring the Incredible Hulk, a comic that reprints The Incredible Hulk 128. The second is the Incredible Hulk 128. The cover on both are the same (with different colour tones) and features the Hulk standing in a tunnel underground while Black Panther, Vision, Quicksilver, and Scarlet Witch stand on the ground above him and Giant Man is punching through the ground into the tunnel.

Very happy that I got to meet @wertherdelledera.bsky.social and @ericxyz.bsky.social and see @kaganmcleod.bsky.social again at Fan Expo Canada. Eric even let me talk his ear off for a bit, basically telling him my whole life story.🤦🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️ Upgraded my ACE vol. 1 so a friend of mine will be getting a gift.

A blank-cover copy of 2026's Daredevil #1 with artwork (a colour image of She-Hulk) by Kagan McLeod on it.

A copy of the comic Assorted Crisis Events volume 1 signed by Eric Zawadski and a piece of art, Hulk busting through comic panels with sound effects drawn in the background, also by Eric.

Three comic books from the series "Something is Killing the Children", two signed by James Tynion IV and Werther Dell'Edera and a third signed only be Werther Dell'Edera, and a piece of colour art (the Hulk) by Werther Dell'Edera.

Could we not have found a local artist to pay to do something up as opposed to this AI slop? And am I the only one who finds this stuff unappealing to look at??

For the record, there are 3 Stanley Cups and all are considered official/"real." The original, fragile Cup & the spell corrected "Permanent" Cup, both of which stay at the Hockey Hall of Fame. And the Presentation Cup that travels for events and with the winning team.

It doesn't actually explode, it refracts or redirects sunlight and if it happens to concentrate it in one area it can cause burns or fires. Along with mirrors potentially any shiny object could also be a concern. People have found burns on seats, the dashboard, and even the ceiling.

$Results for a Google image search for plastic water bottles in cars showing multiple images of water bottles refracting light concentrating it to a small area.$

I guess it's being seen as cool now to crap on the original Secret Wars series. I don't care what people say now or even the "critics" at that time, I have and will always enjoy that series regardless of how it came about. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Cover to the comic series "Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars" #1 depicting a large group of heroes charging towards the reader. Heroes include Captain America, Wolverine, Hulk, Iron Man, Spider-Man, and many others.

Cover to the comic series "Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars" #4 depicting mostly rock with a horizontal break three quarters of the way down. While many heroes are laying down, injured inside the break in the rock the Hulk is standing holding up the top part of the rock. Two captions read "Beneath one hundred and fifty billion tons, stands the Hulk--" and "-- And he's not happy!"

Cover to the comic series "Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars" #8 depicting Spider-Man in an all black suit with a white emblem on his chest and white, triangular eyes. Many heroes and villains are seen fighting in the background.

Cover to the comic series "Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars" #10 depicting Dr Doom. He is down on one knee with his armour suit largely destroyed but looking up defiantly with energy charging around his fists. A caption reads "Against the Beyonder... To the death!"

Assorted Crisis Events continues to be one of the most creative comics I've seen in a long while. Every issue has me thinking and feeling, but also appreciating the medium of comic books.

Rest in peace, Sal Buscema. I pretty much grew up on this legendary artist's epic 10 year run on the Incredible Hulk, being blown away by every patented "Buscema Punch" he drew. We lost one of the greats but were blessed with so much of his art. 💔 #SalBuscema #ComicBooks #ComicBookArtist

Artist Sal Buscema sitting at a table holding up a drawing of the Hulk, Dr Strange, and the Silver Surfer.

A Sal Buscema comic drawing of the Hulk just after transforming with Rick Jones in the background. Dialogue has Rick saying "H-Hey Doc! You-- CHANGED!!", the Hulk replying "Get out of my way, insect!!!" and a narration box saying "That was the beginning."

Two comic panels. The smaller on in the top left corner is a close up of Spider-Man's head upside down as he says "Funny you should ask...". The second larger panel had Spider-Man in the background hanging upside punching She-Hulk who is flying upside down towards the reader from the punch. Four superheroes are far in the background, looking shocked with one saying "Hey!" and Captain America saying "Webspinner, have you lost your mind?"

A Sal Buscema drawn comic panel with the Thing (from the Fantastic Four) swinging his fist while lying on the floor. Three villains are seen flying through the air from his punch.

A bit of a niche 💩y answer from Google's chatbot. It responded that Homelander (who isn't a DC universe character) will be appearing in the DC KO event but rejected the idea of Samantha Strong being in it because she's not DC. They were both announced to appear at New York Comic Con.

I'm not sure if it's officially part of it but if you follow the cat's gaze you'll see two birds on a lamppost I believe near the statue.

One thing I feel about the Fantastic Four trailer/marketing is that it has the feel I was somewhat hoping for from Superman. The initial Superman tease had this whole "look up" thing which felt hopeful, the trailer felt like everyone was looking down. This seems to embrace family & optimism.

Threads post from Marvel. Text reads "We have liftoff. Marvel Studios' The Fantastic Four: First Steps lands in theatres July 25." There are two pictures shown, one having a crowd of people celebrating with pro-Fantastic Four flags and signs while the second shows a young girl looking in the sky in wonder while holding a Thing action figure with a similar celebrating crowd behind her.

So according to Google "AI" the Canada Post strike lasted "nearly a month" but it's over. Unless I'm mistaken, and despite what some media outlets do seem to have in their headlines, although it may just be a formality at this point the strike is not actually over.

They mention school being back in session/staying home from school when you're sick, I think we also need a reminder that more workers are being forced back into the office for more time and to stay home from work if you're sick as well.
