Say you're a kid, out for a walk, you find what you think might be a dinosaur footprint! Exciting! How should you identify it? You can use our new AI app DinoTracker! And here we explain to the young scientists out there at BBC Newsround: www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/ar...

Who made this footprint? AI plays dinosaur detective
It's a bit like Cinderella trying on her glass slipper... except the shoe is squishy mud, the foot weighs tons, and the owner vanished about 100 million years ago. And that's why AI can help.

You know I had to do it. This long-legged beauty is Khankhuuluu mongoliensis, a small (ish) Tyrannosauroid from Late Cretaceous Asia The description of Khankhuuluu was published just a couple of days ago. The taxon has a mixed suit of basal and derived tyrannosauroid characters #paleoart #dinosaur

Welcome to Khankhuuluu, the newest dinosaur! Discovered over 50 years ago in Mongolia, finally described! A close cousin of T. rex, and more evidence that the American 'King' was an Asian immigrant... My thoughts for @theguardian.com www.theguardian.com/science/2025...

Hello to Duonychus, the newest dinosaur. And a weird one at that. A two-fingered therizinosaur with hands that remind me of oversized BBQ tongs. Congrats Yoshi Kobayashi, @darlaz-dinosaurs.bsky.social @paleo-fiorillo.bsky.social & crew! My thoughts for @cnn.com edition.cnn.com/2025/03/25/s...

Largest fully preserved dinosaur claw unearthed in Mongolia’s Gobi Desert | CNN
Paleontologists unearthed the fossil in Mongolia’s Gobi Desert, and the find is unique because of a sheath preserved on one of the digits, which reveals the claw’s true length.

I first met Chris Brochu when I was in high school. Waited in line for ages to get his autograph at a Field Museum @suethetrex.bsky.social lecture. He was sitting at a table, behind a velvet rope, signing photos. I'll now have to get Chris to autograph this, out in the latest BBC Science Focus!
