I find it kind of hilarious that they put the Marvel Comics head on the Optimus Prime who comes with Elita One, an original character from the cartoon who never appeared in the comics.

That happened when I sold my Titans Return Blaster. Couldn't find the rocket sled, gave up and went to take pictures without it... And found it stored inside his chest when I transformed him.

This is the reason I waited on Onyx Prime. Glad to have that decision vindicated.

My brain is forever on shuffle through an ever-increasing amount of pop culture ephemera, and yet somehow this pops up more often than one would think considering the sheer amount of mental fragments on offer...

I found that sticking just a little bit of folded paper in the socket was enough to keep it tightly secured.

That made me think of something. If you come across a typo in the wording (i.e. "He grabbed the the hammer", or an incorrect pronoun), would you "fix" the typo in your narration, or read it exactly as written? Especially with an already-published book versus one that has yet to come out.

Also Tears of the Kingdom, which was only possible because the Breath of the Wild team remained together and as such was able to use their familiarity with the code to know how to push it further.

Yes. By way of example, in 1890 President McKinley imposed massive tariffs on Canada, with the goal of forcing them to be reliant on US goods to the point that we could annex them as the 45th state. Instead it drove up prices in the US and led Canada to align more closely with Great Britain.

Said horrid piece of shit left after selling the company to Microsoft. Whether that's better or worse largely depends on your view of Microsoft, but the horrid piece of shit has been gone for almost two years.

When Jim Henson was first starting out, he had a little five-minute live show called Sam and Friends, aired in Washington DC and later Baltimore. Very few of these survive visually now.

They were primitive and simple, to the point where they're strange to watch. This was twenty years before The Muppet Show. They didn't have voices at first, and were often mimed to musical records.

It was his way of getting on television, and he wasn't completely serious about puppetry as an art form until he'd been doing this for a couple of years.

Maybe that would be a Youtube show now. Just a little stepping stone, the first step in his much larger career.

But here's the thing: While doing that show, Jim Henson bought two fancy cars and a two-story house with a studio floor. He got married, had children, traveled the world. He started building his business. He established relationships at NBC and with the puppeteering community.

Sam and Friends was his first step. People used to get paid for that first step, in a way that would allow them to take further steps.

Maybe that would be a Youtube show now. He wouldn't get paid for it, not more than pocket change anyway. And he wouldn't have a pathway to a further career from there.

I grew up inspired by Jim Henson. I took my first steps into filmmaking in high school, doing comedy and puppets and animation and all sorts of creative things. But for someone my age, it was hard to translate that into money. It was impossible, without generational money, to break into mainstream Hollywood, even after film school in Los Angeles. I'm 45 now and doing lots of interesting things, but moneywise I'm still stuck at that first step.

There's lots of talent out there, and most of that talent doesn't have the money to show what they can really do.

We miss the great creatives when they pass away. If you want the next (great creative), fund the arts.

“Be Strong enough to be gentle.” Peter Cullen tells the story of how his brother inspired the voice he would use to play Optimus Prime. It’s a simple yet poignant quote that sums up why Optimus and Peter are so beloved. Til All Are One. 💔

Gonna be honest, I think more companies would do this with IP they're not using and have no intention to use vs sitting on it forever so no one else can use it.

From what I can tell the official timeline is that Fisk becomes mayor before Thunderbolts*, cracks down on vigilantes just after it, and is out of office by the time of Brand New Day.

Thinking about the timeline of Daredevil: Born Again, in the couple years leading up to Brand New Day first he was retired, then he was in hiding, then he was in jail.

The people we actually worked with knew how good we were, and how valuable we were to their projects, and told us so regularly. Unfortunately, they weren't consulted regarding our continued employment.

And all the people at that company who were still depending on our work were completely blindsided by it and pissed we were cut loose when they still had work they expected us to be able to do.

The best QA team I ever worked on, nearly all of us got laid off because the parent company did a reorg that moved us out from the department we were doing all our work for, to being under a department that had no budget for us and no conception of our value.

Doom 2016 put far too much emphasis on glory kills. Crazy kill animations are cool the first few times, but quickly start to be repetitive and just take up time I'd rather be using to kill stuff, on top of having to keep running into melee to do them instead of blasting stuff.

As an example, look at thimerosal. There was no evidence of ill effects but Antivaxxers complained so we removed it just in case. Antivaxxers still refused to vaccinate, and now many vaccines have a shorter shelf-life and are harder to distribute to poorer countries.

There's a comic writer I follow who started working on a War of the Worlds/Dracula crossover novel taking place in the 1890s, inspired by the fact that both books were written in that decade.

I mean, Ursula the Sea-Witch also engages with the contract in pretty bad faith, using what Ariel paid to deny her the thing she wanted to get out of it.
