Usually takes a week or two post-ban for altered deck lists to start populating after a card gets banned, since they just remove a deck from the page if one of its cards are no longer legal. I'm really not in the trenches on data so idk if I'm missing something but that's what I've seen in the past.

I assume you'd use it with a Shifting Woodland + Aftermath Analyst loop to put all your lands in the graveyard in response to the Analyst trigger to be brought back, to facilitate amulet things.

Played an #MtG #Strixhaven draft tonight, went 2-1 in matches. The opponent who won a match against me closed out game 2 by casting Armageddon while they had board dominance. I've never been more hyped about losing a game of Magic in my life.

The Secrets of Strixhaven Mystical Archive print of Armageddon. 3W, Sorcery, Destroy all lands.

Are these the same folks with the cynical take that WotC doesn't care about legacy because they can't sell cards to legacy players anymore?

as a relatively newer player to the game (starting with all will be one) my opinions on the art isn't quite as strong. i wouldn't go as far as to say the art is ugly or cheap, though i would agree i don't find it fits with the "ideal" mtg aesthetic.

110

Dark The Fox @darkthefox02.bsky.social · 28/05/2025

honestly same, i'm glad people are excited for it but man i just don't really care about final fantasy. raising the cost of standard legal product probably doesn't help my opinion on the set either.

110

Dark The Fox @darkthefox02.bsky.social · 27/05/2025

i briefly considered it for All Will Be One because that set got me started in magic, and maybe one day i will buy the finance sink involved just isn't practical. maybe one day

Built the Tolarian Community College "Build your own precon" list of this with Lurrus as companion. The deck excels at grinding into the mud and stopping others from winning long enough to slam a combo with several layers of protection, and can occasionally just full send a combo early on.

FWIW in Ravnica lore the murder in question was only a big deal because it was so high profile and a Guild leader. If you file the right paperwork murder is totally legal in the city-plane, and if you kill someone unaffiliated with a guild the death likely won't even be investigated.

Eldrazi Linebacker. Hut hike, you're dead.

The Magic The Gathering card Eldrazi Linebreaker. Colloquially known as Eldrazi Linebacker.

In lore, Emrakul represents isolation and solitude a lot more than the other two titans, and as such both has a smaller(in numbers) brood and doesn't come through and do her work to a plane until after Ulamog and Kozilek have done their thing.

The problem with banning dispute is that it's an important role player in other decks, I know for a specific example Cycle Storm needs the treasure Dispute makes so they can't just slot in another version of the effect like Affinity would do.

All in all a successful first league even if I didn't go positive, some mulligan decisions and lines to optimize that will come with more reps of the deck. Can definitely see myself playing this more going forward.

Dark The Fox @darkthefox02.bsky.social · 20/12/2024

Match 3 Vs A 4 color control type deck, that turbo Arclight Pheonix'd me G3. 4 vs. A LotG control deck where I had more cost reducers than they had interaction. 5 vs. I think a GSZ Elves deck that I goldfished over both games. 4/5

110

Dark The Fox @darkthefox02.bsky.social · 20/12/2024

Not yet familiar with the format enough to know what decks were what exactly, especially with the post-BnR update brewing going on. Match 1 vs Hammer Time, just didn't know what to expect and got punched. 2 Vs Grixis Dredge, once again dumpstered. 3/5

While the league wasn't positive, I had a lot of fun with the deck and will be running it again. Used the primer from theepicstorm.com to familiarize myself with the deck before jumping into a league, as well as some solo gold fishing to get a feel for the lines. 2/5

Just finished an MTGO league with Modern Ruby Storm. Taking advantage of the All Access token currently available to just try some stuff. Wasn't having a ton of success with more fair decks in Pauper so decided to try and pick up something on the broken combo side here. 1/5 #MTG #MTGModern #MTGStorm

An MTGO league end results page. Matches displayed in order of first on bottom, last on top. Reads as follows:
Match 5: Deucebuckbuck, Win 2-0
Match 4: RedhatRob, Win 2-0
Match 3: Ermanator, Loss 1-2
Match 2: Dr_Brian_Pepper, Loss 0-2
Match 1: Nocturne_, Loss 1-2.

Going to try and post updates here on my quest to be a Decent MtG Player. Will mostly consist of league results threads, with some discussion around what I think of the deck I played vs. the decks my opponents played. Feel free to follow if interested in seeing that!

Dark The Fox @darkthefox02.bsky.social · 17/12/2024

Do you think Grixis Twin could be worth exploring? I.E. Izzet core with black for Thoughtseize to protect the combo and maybe things like bowmaster to build out the mid game. Or is adding black just too disruptive to the decks main plan that it isn't worth pursuing.

100

Dark The Fox @darkthefox02.bsky.social · 06/12/2024

Ghost vacuum. Colourless and goes in any deck, regardless of format(except maybe vintage) there's likely to be a creature in the graveyard at some point, and provides value if the game goes long enough to activate and get a bunch of hopefully still relevant 1/1s.

Dark The Fox @darkthefox02.bsky.social · 04/12/2024

One ring in Modern. Frog, vexing bauble, maybe glaring fleshraker and nadu in legacy.
