A failure of mid-20thC planning was the widespread demolition of ancient buildings, even in places like York. Black Swan on Coney St dated to 17thC & 1790. Minimal record made. I look at such cases in The Buildings Archaeologist, out 8 Oct: triskeleheritage.triskelepublishing.com/the-building...

Talking of new buildings influenced by historical ones: These have just appeared locally. I believe there was once a 'Window Tax' that led to many people bricking up windows to avoid the tax. Is this a new trend? Actually building fake 'bricked up' windows into new blocks of flats! 🤔

Actually... A Mig-17. Seeing this blasting past with the afterburner lit up a couple of minutes after this than was the highlight of the day at Duxford - better than the RAF's Eurofighter Typhoon display in my book! 💥🔥 Thanks to FUBAR Aviation from Poland for bringing this rare bird to the UK.

@TFL Once again the platform indicator at Cockfosters station lies. 🙄 Says 1st train platform 3 but as I'm about to get driver tells me it's out of service and platform 4 train is 1st so I get on that. Then platform 1 train goes first! 🤬
