I've been looking at ideas for space naval warfare, and it occurred to me that it's not THAT weird to say "Yeah, these space ships use cannons that use nukes to propel their munitions." Age-of-(Nuclear)-Sail space warfare would be kinda cool.

High stress day at work made me start writing notes for space naval warfare games again. I just don't like Dropfleet very much, and I want a game that isn't written by a transphobe like the new Firestorm: Armada. If I wanted starfighters, I'd have Stardust. But I want naval slug fests.

I often get frustrated with the writing I'm trying to do, the skill I'm trying to develop. I wish I could look into the future and see how I finished something, see how I did it. I'd love to see my idea finished and working as intended. But AI doesn't make my idea. If I replace me, it's not mine.

The cluelessness of this reminds me a lot of the NFT grift. The thing about NFTs was that it was mainly something finance bros were into, and when they were trying to worm their way into gaming, their pitches were an abyssal trench of bad ideas because they couldn't grasp why people played games.

I've been back-to-back reading Alastair Reynolds and Adrian Tchaikovsky novels, and no insult to Alastair but it's such a DRASTIC difference between how Alastair and Adrian write women characters. Adrian *absolutely* does a better job of it. The protagonists of Shroud are an especially good example

This is a problem I frequently have with fascists in fiction. Because the defining trait of fascists to me is that they're too fucking stupid to do anything right, and that's what makes them dangerous. But in fiction we often have to make them seem competent so they can threaten our protagonists.
