Liberation Theology is not a mainstay in evangelicalism, particularly the brand that is growing rapidly in Brasil, which is linked into Prosperity Doctrine more than anything else from what my Brasilian friends tell me. What they want is rapid eschatology, personal saviour, and wealth.

Liberal Islam != Islamic Liberation Theology. Jewish Liberalism != Jewish Liberation Theology. Various forms of Religious Socialism != liberation theology. Liberation Theology is uniquely Latin American Christian in origin, and confuddling terminology doesn't change that.
