Good day on patch yesterday with 4 Grey Herons high SW over Marcle Ridge, probably not many hours after crossing the North Sea, also 217 Mipits SW and 5 Song T SW, then a Woodlark in the field behind home at Sellack a patch first #patchbirding

Two good days of migration at Marcle Ridge with @williamlambourne.bsky.social included 429 Mipits SW yesterday and a further 359 today, first 4 Jays on the move yesterday (a decent UK movement on the cards after last years acorn crop?), 10 Song T and 8 Snipe on the continental line today #ukbirding

The Woodpigeon flood was in full flow at Marcle Ridge this morning with 58,700 SW a new site and county record, also another good movement of 1068 Starlings WSW, 4 Bramblings, 52 Chaffinches, 58 Redwings and 4 GWE (3,1) all WSW #patchbirding

The arrival of Starlings to the east coast yesterday reached Marcle Ridge this morning with 1450 WSW in tight knit flocks low passed the watchpoint, one of the best migration spectacles! Also 17,700 Woodpigeons SW, 7 Brambling, 150 Chaffinches, Crossbills and 2 tardy Red Admirals SW #patchbirding

A great morning around the patch in good condition yielded a Blue-headed type wagtail, whitethroat, 2 gadwall, 1 common sand, goldeneye, wigeon, c.30 sand martins and 8 swallows at Walford Pools, as well as a pair of LRP on territory on the Wye, another common sand, singing sedge warbler & redstart

The highlight of a morning on the home part of the patch at Sellack was a flock of 80 plus greenfinches with 70 chaffinches feeding on a newly drilled crop, otherwise 5 lapwing on flooded potatoes with 120 common, 10 b-h gulls and 24 mute swans while searching for a yellow bill #herefordbirding
