Dan Orgill @danorgillart.bsky.social · 10hFrom the collection: I've always loved this Gil Kane cover. It would have grabbed my attention as a kid, that's for sure. This book had been VERY elusive to me in high grade. This one is about a VF+ and presents pretty nicely, but I'm always on the lookout for a nicer one. 060

Dan Orgill @danorgillart.bsky.social · 09/10/2026As October continues, time for some creature art from the art-chives. This piece was a lot of fun to paint, and has been a good seller at shows. I even hand lettered it! 24210
Dan Orgill @danorgillart.bsky.social · 08/10/2026From the collection: Cap, Falcon, Mr. Hyde and the Scorpion all in one book? Yes, please! And with that dynamic Sal Buscema cover, what kid wouldn't want to grab this off the spinner rack and bring it home? 270
Dan Orgill @danorgillart.bsky.social · 07/10/2026If anyone were to ask me " what is an underrated or under appreciated book " Tomb of Dracula would be first on my list. Cover art by Gil Kane and Tom Palmer. This cover is very similar in design to the iconic Batman 227, which was published two years prior in 1970. 050
Dan Orgill @danorgillart.bsky.social · 06/10/2026From the collection: This was my very first Mavel Treasury Edition. Despite all my childhood comics being long gone, I somehow held onto all of my original treasuries. I have a couple of really nice copies, but this one is my favorite, old yellow tape and all. 080
Dan Orgill @danorgillart.bsky.social · 05/10/2026I was very careful to select a brush that would hold its' point. No old, scruffy brushes allowed! 020
Dan Orgill @danorgillart.bsky.social · 05/10/2026I had a couple of down days while I'm waiting for my roughs on my current project to get approved. I hadn't painted in over a month, so I figured it was a good idea to " shake out the cobwebs " and get a little something done. The Amazing Spider-Man Gouache on hot press paper 8 x 10" 3248
Dan Orgill @danorgillart.bsky.social · 04/10/2026I would accept a purple label on a super rare book, like some of the earlier Superman, Wonder Woman and Batman books. 130
Dan Orgill @danorgillart.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Low & mid-grades should usually be priced to move, unless it's a mega key issue. LOTS of Hulk 102's out there, so get one at the grade & price you want 120
Dan Orgill @danorgillart.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Took me over 40 years to pull the trigger on Hulk 102. When I first wanted one in 1983, it was $16 in NM. In the late 90's it was around $150 in NM, which is when I should have pounced, but I didn't.... So when I finally got one, I did, indeed, pay through the nose. 260
Dan Orgill @danorgillart.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Thanks Vin! I do have a lot of gaps in the collection, but there are some issues that I just don't " need " to own. I'm trying to NOT be a completist anymore. 110
Dan Orgill @danorgillart.bsky.social · 03/10/2026It's not well populated in high grade on the CGC census. Not that the census is the be-all, end-all of what's out there, but it's the only barometer we have. 010
Dan Orgill @danorgillart.bsky.social · 03/10/2026I just pulled them out to check; the reds on the 9.6 are indeed more vibrant, everythign else seems to be the same 120

Dan Orgill @danorgillart.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Late to the Friday festivities, but here I am! My all-time favorite Hulk storyline from Hulk 167-170. This book eluded me in high grade for years, finally snagged a 9.4 and then this 9.6. 150
Dan Orgill @danorgillart.bsky.social · 03/10/2026You just never know how an artist's mind works. I know people loved Joe Staton inking Sal Buscema on the Hulk, but Sal wasn't a fan of the finished product. 220
Dan Orgill @danorgillart.bsky.social · 03/10/2026New addition to the collection: The Master Mold finds out the hard way that the Hulk is not to be messed with. Once ol' greenskin decided that MM needed some smashing, he was on a mission to make that happen. 1240
Dan Orgill @danorgillart.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Since it's October, I guess some spooky, monster related paintings are safe to post. Commission from awhile back, Abbott & Costello meet Frankenstein. An absolute classic of the Universal Monster genre. 252
Dan Orgill @danorgillart.bsky.social · 29/09/2026I can read my raw copy, other books I can read in reprint form, which I'm happy to do. I don't want to handle a high grade book that I could damage and devalue. At some point, I'll sell my collection, and slabbed books are what auction houses like Comiclink are after from consignors. 020
Dan Orgill @danorgillart.bsky.social · 29/09/2026To each their own. This book is never going to be super valuable, but it has a nostalgic value to me that can't be measured. I also like to own the best copy that I can afford. 120
Dan Orgill @danorgillart.bsky.social · 29/09/2026New addition to the collection last night. I actually own a superb raw copy that I wanted to send in to CGC, but compared to the price I paid for this copy, it wasn't worth the expense of pressing & slabbing. 141
Dan Orgill @danorgillart.bsky.social · 28/09/2026I've never even looked into that avenue. I'm not sure how they work or how it would work in Canada. 000
Dan Orgill @danorgillart.bsky.social · 27/09/2026So, yesterday I caved and bought Youtube Premium. Essentially, I'm paying to not be aggravated by all the online gambling ads, which are plentiful. I already think I got my $$$ worth. 180
Dan Orgill @danorgillart.bsky.social · 27/09/2026From the collection: One of my all-time favorite Iron Man covers. I don't own many issues of TOS, but this one was a must have. This cover just screams for an homage, maybe someday I'll get to it when I'm free of deadlines. 3141
