They're an odd people. Not very interesting, though, in that they all sound exactly the same and keep saying the same dumb shit over and over.

Sorry about my last, parenthetical point there, @mathewingram.com. It's just how things are in the world of reality.

Those "edits" things were often on channels named, like "Gemini Film Studios." There were of course some good ones. That one that turned "The Shining" into a feel-good movie called "Shining" was brilliant. But there were very few (since it takes, like, work to make something worthy).

In all these cases, the result isn't really any different from someone just describing what happens in the video. Like "imagine a truck crashing into a Chevron station." Or, "Imagine 'Breaking Bad,' but with a laugh track so it seems like a sitcom.

From scanning social-media slop-spam, it's come clear to me that many of the sloppers think that they're creative. By typing "show a truck crashing into a Chevron station" or whatever. This is not surprising. For years, makers of lame "edits" on Youtube clearly thought of themselves as auteurs.

This is huge: a judge ruled a Flock search was 'indiscriminate mass surveillance' and unconstitutional. Says the search by a cop, who did it because a passing car had a plate from a different state, violated the driver's rights. Meaning, Flock should require a warrant www.404media.co/federal-judg...

Flock’s nationwide network is quickly “approaching dragnet-type law enforcement practice” and the cop should have got a warrant, the judge wrote.

When we talk about the corrupt Supreme Court, we’re not just talking about Clarence Thomas getting paid off or Scalia doing billionaire junkets. John Roberts’ spouse getting paid by BigLaw firms would also be considered corrupt under federal law for other government employees.

I think he was still identifying as a "leftist" at that point. Maybe he still does, I dunno.

Dan Mitchell @danmitchell.bsky.social · 15h
Starting just a year or two after Tracey left college, he's been in the dirtbag-contrarian leftist-cum-fascist-apologist group. And for someone with his goals, he couldn't have made a better choice. In 2016, he went whole-hog on bashing Hillary Clinton, and pretended to be a polite Trump "skeptic."

Dan Mitchell @danmitchell.bsky.social · 15h
I mean, everybody's politics change some, or even a lot. Mine surely have. But clearly, there are people who don't really have an ideology at all. They just want to be "extreme" in some way. And they'll join whichever group will enable them to get the most possible attention for it.

Read this sympathetic treatment of Tracey by Socialist Worker, and the descriptions of him, and wonder at the plasticity of some people's brains. This was only 13 years ago. He was already an insufferable dick, of course, but he hadn't yet landed on the right vehicle for his dickishness.

Arrested for asking Coulter a question
Ann Coulter's visit to the College of New Jersey brought out dozens of protesters--and left one student facing charges for asking a question.

When Tracey was a member of the College Democrats (!) in NJ, he tried to rush the stage at an Ann Coulter event. There was once video of it online: him getting tackled by the cops and screaming in terror. It was wonderful.

I’ll give this a listen. Does it address the time he tried to rush the stage at an Ann Coulter event and got tackled by some cops and started screaming in terror? He was in college. There used to be video of it online.

You know — Icarus? I’ll get as close to the sun as I can.”

There are many people who are far worse on this score than than Obama (who had forces arrayed against him that most others don't). But they weren't president.
000
Dan Mitchell @danmitchell.bsky.social · 20h
For people like Obama, much of it is the yearning to appear "rational" and "reasonable." So they normalize and even promote insane shit like "clean coal" or letting Wall Street go hog wild, because they think there's no better way to appear "rational" than to stray from your own principles.
110
Dan Mitchell @danmitchell.bsky.social · 20h
And it's not just "moderates." The more irksome and insufferable leftists do this, too. We all want all Americans to enjoy the same rights and benefits, including the Backward Whites (or we should). But that doesn't mean we have to make them like us, or be their pals. They're terrible people!
110
Dan Mitchell @danmitchell.bsky.social · 20h
Politics involves working to defeat your political enemies. That's the whole thing! The right understands this. The "moderates" do not. They're so insistent on the "common ground" thing that they reject the horrifying reality of American "conservatism" in favor of their own conception of it.
111
Dan Mitchell @danmitchell.bsky.social · 20h
This critique of Obama goes too hard, I think, but it's not wrong. (My own favorite example is him promoting "clean coal"). And it all goes back to the fear of and admiration for Backward Whites that drives so many "moderate" types. Finding "common ground" with them and so forth.

Dan Mitchell @danmitchell.bsky.social · 20h
Sure. I mean, it's not like you have human agency or something. A betrayal, apparently accompanied by a bit of political homelessness, rose from the aether and radicalized you, not always in a productive way. These things happen.

What’s more, the NYT investigated itself, published the results, and issued apologies. They did that with Miller, Jayson Blair, and other problem reporters and various fuckups. But they’ll never own up to ushering fascists into the highest seats of power and then helping them stay there.

They do this not thanks to the propaganda media, but thanks to the mainstream media. That's who made it possible to say something like "you have the white nationalists" as if it were the equivalent of "you have the Chamber of Commerce" or "you have the unions."
