assume you're acting in good faith: you're the one who signs off on the patch you submit in your own name, and you have the technical
understanding to verify that it's accurate.
That said, don’t use LLMs on areas of the codebase you don’t understand well enough to verify the output. If part of your change touches code
you aren't confident reviewing yourself, say so in the issue you opened beforehand and defer that work to someone else. The maintainers will

I've used LLMs sparingly as a troubleshooting
and planning aid on Fluxer. Fluxer isn't vibe-
coded, and describing it that way would be false
and unfair to years of work. I'd never outsource
my judgement to an LLM; limited use was a
necessary compromise while I was carrying too
much of the project alone, when the alternative
was abandoning Fluxer or raising venture capital
to ship it. I'm strongly opposed to the venture-
capital path for Fluxer, and open source
contributions now mean I no longer need to
handle every part of the project by myself.
Fluxer's core predates LLMs becoming normal in
software development. The architecture, safety
decisions, technical choices, and product
direction are mine, and I only ship changes I
understand and can explain. I expect the same
from external contributors.

The LLMephant in the room
Fluxer came from about five years of work.
If you have used Fluxer and know the limits of LLMs, this should be obvious. Software this large only
reaches this level of quality when a competent person keeps working on it over time. In Fluxer's case, that
means years of on-and-off development, testing, reworking, and learning from real users. Most of the core
product predates LLMs becominga normal part of software development, and the architecture, data
model, protocols, safety decisions, technical choices, and sense of what Fluxer should be are mine.
Many models were trained in ways I disagree with, and I dislike the direction most Al companies are
taking. More recently I have preferred local open source models where they are good enough, because the
tool exists either way and I use it on my own terms.
The closest way to describe it is as a second brain. When the codebase is large and the problem is subtle, it
helps to have something that can sit with a crash log, a failing test, or a rough specification and help me
think through where to look next. That can save time on the slow, repetitive parts of the work without
changing who is responsible for the result.
The important part is thatI stay in control. I decide the architecture, shape the specification, review the
change, run the tests, and make sure it fits the surrounding system. IfI cannot explain the change, I cannot
ship it. Every change still has to preserve code quality, handle failure cases, and fit the product.
That is especially important because Fluxer is a real product with real-time delivery, media processing,
billing, moderation, abuse prevention, and user safety concerns. LLMs can improve my throughput while
the bar stays the same.
The clean commit history has a simpler explanation. The early work happened privately over more than
three years, and I squashed it when Fluxer moved from closed development to public source. That is
normal for a closed-to-open transition.

The LLMephant in the room
Fluxer was largely built before LLMs became a normal part of day-to-day
development. | do use them now, but in a limited way: as a rubber duck and for
mechanical implementation work when | already have a detailed spec. | treat the
code it outputs like | would any external contribution.
No LLM designed the system, wrote the specs, or made architectural decisions.
Maoee: imu! only use LLMs when | already know the platform well enough to
review the result properly.
Ultimately, you'll have to take my word for it that I'm trying to handle this
responsibly. Fluxer is a large, complicated codebase because the project itself is
large and complicated. LLMs still aren't capable of autonomously producing
anything like what Fluxer is today.
If it were that easy to create something this polished on a whim using only LLMs,
we'd already be swimming in credible Discord alternatives.
In short, for Fluxer: PRs should be reviewable, understandable, and test-backed.
Submitting generated code you cannot explain, or using an LLM to bypass review
standards, isn't acceptable. At the same time, responsible use of LLMs as a tool is
fine, and contributors should not be harassed for using them.

That's a factor but the main one is simply that it's Harry Potter. JK Rowling is extremely transphobic and influential and probably the single person most responsible for the removal of trans people's rights in english-speaking countries. So support for her work is viewed as support for that.
