Took a stab at white bread for sandwiches. A friend sent me his recipe. THIS IS GOOD BREAD. We're grilling cheeses tonight!

Walked the Manito gardens with the family today. It was lovely. Saw a tree imported from Whoville and a 120 year old cactus! Now excuse me while my feet spontaneously combust. 😅

The Japanese gardens at Manito. The sun is shining off the koi pond and the trees are all turning autumn colors. A very peaceful place.

A bonsai birch tree, apparently. The trunk is a twisted spiral. My nephew said it's a Dr Suess tree and he is correct.

A Christmas cactus in the Duncan gardens conservancy. The plaque says it was propagated in 1906. This is the oldest cactus I've ever had the pleasure of meeting!

Hey local friends! If you guys have any brown paper bags or plain cardboard boxes you're not using, can I have them? I'm putting them down in the veggie garden to hopefully keep the weeds back a bit next year.

AI kept transferring me to the wrong department. I finally got to speak to a human who could transfer me to the right department. I told her I hate that AI. She sighed and said, "Honestly, me too." AI is not making anything easier for anyone, customers or employees. Time to throw it in the trash.

I've done some front/back post stitches in my little stuffies I've been crocheting but I didn't know about it alternating like this. I think its so pretty!

Very easy! It's just a repeat of front post/back post double crochet stitches - instead of looping through the V stitch like you normally do, you loop around the long part of the double crochet. It's hard to explain in words but if you look up a rice stitch video they'll show you!

One of the lug nuts was metric instead of standard. Someone had put the wrong nut on the wheel. We couldn't change the tire. Lovely guy left with what gratitude my busted brain could muster just as my boyfriend's dad showed up to make sure everything was okay with the expensive dog.

A lovely young guy in a fancy car with a newfangled cellular telephone stopped. He got us back to the vet where, while I was gone, the vet had finally arrived and was looking at the dog. Lovely guy took me to an auto shop to borrow a wrench so we could change one tire and maybe limp the car home.

Now, I'm not blaming anyone because seeing a barefoot and bedraggled young woman run up to your house in a thunderstorm is literally horror movie stuff, but no one answered their door. My brain fully extinguished itself at this point and I ran into the road trying to find help.

Still panicked, I turned a corner too hard and popped not one but TWO tires. We were only a couple blocks away so I wrangled the car to the vet only to find it closed. My boyfriend, in the back seat holding his dog, begged me to find someone with a phone. Still shoeless, out into the storm I went.

I drove us back to town, stopping at his parents to let them know to call the vet and let them know we were on the way. In the meantime, the little rainshower had turned into a full blown storm. Thunder, lightning, drenching rain, the works.

He was screaming. I was screaming. He jumped down after the dog. I kicked off my wedge sandals and scrambled down after. He was cradling the dog in his arms saying, "I think her back is broken." Sheer panic set in and we raced back to the car, forgetting my shoes at the bridge.
