Three minutes and half at the REPL. Playing with the youtube API to retrieve liked videos and displaying them in a mosaic in a browser. Not edited, Not narrated. Quite gratuitous. Probably not worth your time. #Clojure #REPL #Emacs #Lisp youtu.be/KVRRMeLqjyM

I am submitting a paper to a peer-reviewed journal. With Bioscoop, I am in a position to make certain claims and try to defend them as best as I can. I would love you to challenge me on those claims. The paper is available in the repo: github.com/danielsz/bio...

Every once in a while, I check how far I can push a Clojure setup on the phone. It's a bit silly, I'll readily admit, but the point is that there used to be many hurdles and today we reached a point in the maturity of the various components involved such that none remain. #Clojure #Termux #Android

I've updated the README for Beeld, my Clojure library for reading and writing image metadata. The new docs cover every feature the library actually had but never bothered to document. github.com/danielsz/beeld #clojure #photography #metadata

Happy to be releasing a new version of Beeld. Beeld provides a uniform interface for working with images. The abstraction is powered by a Clojure protocol. This makes the library extensible. The present release hardens the implementation and comes with a test suite. Enjoy! tuppu.net/cf0775cf

#reclojure2025 was a resounding success, and thanks go out to everyone who pitched in! We should have the first videos out by next week on the London Clojurians YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/@LondonClojurians), and we'll stagger the release of the videos to about 2 every week.

A photograph is meant to be experienced rather than interpreted. Susan Sontag makes that arguments in a book called "Against Interpretation". I agree, but interpretation has its purpose, too. In some contexts, it is unavoidable. As long as you let someone else do the talking. ai.tuppu.net

Sean Tucker's new video Is your Photography any Good? is an excellent take on self-assessment, something that many aspiring photographers struggle with. His answer is structured by three words: intentionality, consistency and originality.

Photographers who approach Susan Sontag's On photography with the idea that it will teach them the art of photography are bound to be disappointed. Susan Sontag's On photography is not about photography at all, but rather about society and the ramifications of mechanical reproduction.

The specifics of the spring festival rituals in rural China may vary from village to village, and they are rarely documented. No wonder, thus, that LLMs cannot pinpoint their nature. Nevertheless, the critique offered by René picks up on the intrinsic qualities of the image. ai.tuppu.net

There are no easy answers to come by in art. Extending a critique is as delicate a matter as receiving it. A critique is one possible interpretation of a work. It is never true or false. What matters is what one does with it, that is to say, how one listens to it. ai.tuppu.net #photography #china

Some photographs lean heavier on a promise than a realization. René picked that up in his critique. Sometimes, shooting conditions are harsh. René generated the critique of that photo, but also the video that you're watching, with the voice-over and the subtitles. ai.tuppu.net

As creators, we all know the craving for validation and the self-doubt that creeps in every so often. Is this an essential byproduct of the creative process? Is it conceivable to see technology inviting itself in the monologue we conduct in our minds? ai.tuppu.net/about

So, ‘Elements of Clojure’ is now free. Before it went free, I had only ever read the preview, and liked it; but never really got to digging deeper. Now I’m halfway through – and already feel profoundly enlightened. Can I still pay for it? @ztellman.ideolalia.com do you accept donations?

Here is another release in my peripatetic video series. youtu.be/SaE1DAkLV3U This time we are walking under the Tropics, discussing how text decoration is handled in the Bluesky API. This is not a tutorial but rather an exposition of the problem. I advocate for a recursive solution à la Scheme.
