I've had an incredibly low opinion of Jeremy Corbyn and Zarah Sultana for years, but it still never ceases to amaze me how massively they managed to mess things up. (Neither of them are the man arrested/woman interviewed under caution by the police, to be clear) www.politico.eu/article/inve...

The Miller-Aladwan axis has fractured, presumably because while both were absolutely fine making increasingly unhinged statements about "Jewish supremacy", Miller got annoyed when Aladwan insisted that Bashar al-Assad was not, in fact, a lovely guy who was just misunderstood.

My take (which no-one asked for, but anyway), is that if Palestine Action hadn't been stupid enough to have their members infiltrate an RAF base, damage military planes, film themselves doing it & publish that on social media, they would not have been proscribed. *They* forced the government's hand.

It's not hugely complicated, tbh - the Centre is definitely in a better place to win against Le Pen, but it relies on the different candidates (there are two main ones) putting ego to one side and uniting under one banner. Which is easier said than done! There is still some time to do it, though.

This polling suggests that if the 2nd round of the French Presidential election is between Le Pen & Mélenchon, Le Pen will win by a landslide. In fact, the polling is so bad for Mélenchon that they've had to use the dark red (ie. corresponding to the highest percentage) for...46%

Well, given that the Lib Dems partnering with the Greens in Southwark have concluded that they're absolutely fine with it (with the obligatory vague condemnation of antisemitism, naturally), I'm drawing conclusions from that as well. www.southwark.gov.uk/news/2026/jo...

I think some of their members have targeted sites within the Jewish community that concern me. But I think I'd need more info before deciding to describe PA that way. Is there a particular reason you decided to ask me that? It seems quite random, given that, AFAIK, we've never spoken before today?

They weren't banned for being antisemitic. They were banned because, after a damaging a bunch of sites (some of which had clear links to the Israeli military, others far more tenuous), they shared footage their members took showing themselves infiltrating an RAF base & damaging military aircraft.

The Lib Dems have now said: "Decisions about local council arrangements are made entirely by local councillors on the ground, who know their communities best." So in other words, a cop out. Good to know, I guess.

I'm glad that individual MPs have criticised it. I included that criticism in a story I wrote the other day! That is sadly not the same as a publicly declared position by the party itself.

I've had my criticisms of the government, but this step by Labour - making it clear what the Greens have done has crossed a red line, & establishing a cordon sanitaire - is EXACTLY the right thing to do. I'd like to know why the Lib Dems haven't done the same. www.jewishnews.co.uk/labour-to-br...

Yes. If the pensioners - or anyone else, for that matter - held up signs saying "I oppose the genocide in Gaza", they could do so freely. It's the second sentence, specifically referring to Palestine Action, which are the grounds for arrest. Which Zack is perfectly well aware of.

He hasn't posted this on BlueSky, which is why I'm screenshotting. A bunch of us are victims of antisemitism every day. You lead a party which just very specifically voted against an amendment designed to protect Jewish party members who attend a Synagogue. Wind your neck in.
I'm the only Jewish leader of a political party.

I'm a victim of Antisemitism every day and I've made it clear Jewish people are welcome in my party.

You're a Prime Minister who arms a genocide and locks pensioners up for opposing it.

If you specifically announce you'll to donate earnings from your books to an organisation designated as a terrorist group (instead, say, one of the many legitimate charities helping in Gaza), then no, I don't feel any sympathy when your publisher says it will stop selling your books here. Sorry.

Join JVP-DC Metro on every other Saturday (starting October 24, 2026*) from 12-3pm at as you are. in Capitol Hill for our Anti-Zionist Mah Jongg Collective! We're bringing together folks of all levels who are interested in learning and playing Mah Jongg in ways that respect the cultural origins of the game, contextualize it within Jewish culture, and envision liberatory Mah Jongg communities outside of Zionism.

The thing I find maddening here is the BBC's response. Is that meant to be an excuse? I'd like to think that they wouldn't invite a far right skinhead on to take part in a discussion of whether or not to embrace male pattern baldness - although who knows these days.
A BBC spokesman said: “Bushra Shaikh is a media personality and broadcaster. She appeared on the topical debate programme Sunday Morning Live to discuss ‘Should Full Face Coverings Be Banned in Public?’ Any personal views expressed are her own and not those of the BBC.”
