I wanted a tool to copy-paste trains connections from the sbb.ch website to my calendar in a simple text-format I have asked claude and ChaGPT to cook up a solution. It's a bookmarklet. The code to put in the bookmarklet's url is in this document: docs.google.com/document/d/1...

#ScienceCommunication #101 ! > When to talk about your research to a broader audience? > How to write concise posts about your results? > What to do upon a media request? I have worked on these topics with PhD students at @unibas.ch during a 1-day workshop on science communication. 1/5

mh... One has to understand the perspective of ERC: too many applications can be a problem. The ERC budget seems* to have increased more or less on par with the size of the pool of researchers* *(courtesy of a well know LLMS, numbers not checked).

5️⃣Another study made by his team analysed the migration of scientists from #X to #Bluesky. It shows that such moves are mainly triggered by external events, then by the departure of people one follows — not by the departure of one’s audience. 6/n

4️⃣The proportion of retweets spreading fake or highly biased news was halved between 2016 and 2020. This might be due to Twitter’s mitigation measures. But polarization between left and right bubbles increased. 5/n

3️⃣ His research shows that reliable news spreads hierarchically: a few large media outlets are retweeted by many low-influence users. By contrast, fake news spreads in a more peer-to-peer way: small accounts and propagators retweet each other. 4/n

I reacted similarly regarding Eschenbach, was shocked. but... apparently the federal court judged previously that it's ok to forbid a teacher to wear a scarf. I was puzzled, and shocked, but one shouldn't dismiss the supreme court's judgment too fast www.geneve.ch/themes/cultu...

Sounds very, very realistic. Most of voters are not duped by politicians, but know what they stand for. And therefore, agree. Especially when "what they stand for" is not about political measures, but about an attitude.

Il y a bcp de raisons à ces hausses. Une d'entre elles: la pléthore d'analyses. L'imagerie médicale représenterait 1/6 des coûts de la médecine ambulatoire. "allez, on se fait quand-même une petite IRM, pour être sûr?"

Citizen of wealthy countries are less willing to contribute financially to fight climate change than poor countries... I view it as a reason for collective shame. But I like the idea of reversing the "race to the bottom" by focussing on a global readiness to act.

The "It" seems to refer to "mankind" a.k.a. "humanity", not "humanities". The distinction is important, to avoid the impression this is some bashing of the humanities.
